How come I have come to hate "streamlined, modern design". Yes, it is fashionable, but that does not mean it has high marks for usability.
Yep. Crappy "streamlined" players like this mean that if you want to change audio settings (Reduce Loud Sounds, Enhance Audio for a couple of examples) while you're watching something, you're going to be exiting the app and going to Settings to change it. I do this a lot because I alternate between speakers and AirPods, where I want different sound settings.

And because every one of these ****ing proprietary special video players is different, you get to relearn whatever gestures work with each one of them. I wish Apple required every Apple TV app to use the native player.

All I care about is if it has better AppleTV integration (search, up next and the new TVOS 26 features).
Same. I think I watch Netflix a lot less because it's never shown in Up Next with the other things I've been watching.

Such a crazy bad update.
These huge tiles/covers...

Total waste of space, you now have much less content on the screen at a glance!

And the saved series/movies on your own list now only scroll sideways !!!
No more cover view in the grid.

What a crazy bad design decision.

It's not true. There is no TV App integration. this person is lying I guess their life is meaningless so they lie online for attention.
Read a little more before you try to make yourself feel better by insulting someone. You will notice it is there but only for original content I made in another post.

The new UI is awful IMO. The previous version was much more intuitive and easy to get around in. Sometimes things are "redesigned" for the sake of change vs improvement. And that's the case here....

We (client of service streaming using Apple products) are not overly demanding. Just following the Apple Design guidelines for coherency, and integration with the OS functionality.

If it’s little better than previous version for the first point, it’s far from perfect and very bad in the second point. And sadly Netflix is not the exception on the streaming world.

Oh god, did they screw up the video player? Netflix is one of the only major services to use the native Apple TV video player and it's so much better to use than the garbage custom ones HBO and Disney+ use.

edit: from looking at the video embedded above, I see they did indeed hose it. Fortunately mine had not yet updated, so I turned off automatic app updates for my ATV specifically to hang onto the previous version of Netflix. I'll just go as long as I can without updating it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The native Apple player is better and it’s frustrating that most apps override it with junk.

with respect this is not correct.

there is no integration at all however if you search for a show that is *purchasable* in the store and happens to originate in Netflix then you'll get the 'open in' option.

If you cant buy the show on the store, then it wont appear in search results at all.

Just try searching for 'Wednesday' - it doesnt appear as its not available elsewhere.

Post in thread 'Netflix Finally Rolls Out Redesigned Interface to Apple TV'
https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...d-interface-to-apple-tv.2463298/post-34059205

This screenshot is from the apple tv app on ios26 beta. As you can see it shows up there. Only thing I’ve noticed is Netflix original content. Nothing else. If you search pacific rim it doesn’t show but it is there on Netflix

Does it make it any easier to find content? That’s the biggest issue I have. All the recommendations are pretty rubbish and it’s such a chore on Netflix (and Disney, Prime etc) to find something to watch.

Why is the same movie shown in 7 different categories!! I skipped over it once when I was scrolling so don’t show me it again…

Edit: typo
Totally agree. It’s like they try to hide My List and Recently Watched/Resume.

But it's not. There is simply ZERO TV App and Netflix integration. At all. Am I talking to a brick wall or what?

Can we *please* have integration with the Apple TV app? The fact that it doesn't work with "Continue Watching" but *did* for a short time when the feature was mistaken released proves that it's a "flick of the switch" away.

I can't stand having to go through all the crap of Netflix's menus. This lack-of-feature along puts Netflix on the short list of "Streaming services I'll probably cancel first when the cumulative price of my subscriptions pass a certain point"

I just want it to NOT auto play previews or audio.
I use a friend’s account these days but, last I knew, you can turn that off by signing in to your account in a browser. No control through the app directly, I can only assume, because Netflix prefers you leave it on because that increases engagement. It doesn’t increase my engagement, it just enrages me.

ive been saying this for a long time too.

What I really dont understand is why they continue to refuse to do so when we now know that it takes literally no effort on their part.
Everyone else on the platform integrates, except Netflix.

I recommend the AppleTV to many friends but its tiresome saying that up next is great but doesnt include Netflix.

Many years ago, I believe the excuse was that they wanted people to go into their app in order to discover new content.
What they seem to not understand is that integrating with up next will massively boost discoverability and traffic to their app as its so much of a chore to do 2 searches that often people wont bother to go into Netflix and just assume the thing they are looking for is not available.
Imagine the extra traffic they would get if their stuff appeared in the similar items section....

It just makes zero sense for them to abstain in this way and in doing so deliberately hamstring the experience their own customers are choosing to use the AppleTV platform.
They obvious care slightly as we just got the new version of the app...

Another theory to their historical holdout was along the lines of disagreeing with Apple's policies on taking a cut of the subscription if a customer signs up in the app - of course this is long since 'resolved' as streamers do not have to allow signup options in the iOS app. Others such as Disney have accepted this and still integrated so theres literally no reason why Netflix wont.

I remain ever hopeful that someday they will change their minds - after all, in doing so will only make their own customers happier and why they choose to not do something that could make their customer happier is baffling for a business.

It is a puzzle at this point. Amazon is a more direct competitor and they’re cool with Up Next. Customer satisfaction doesn’t seem high on Netflix’s list of priorities.

some, not all, and territory dependant perhaps.

in your examples, in the UK, you can indeed search for Cobra Kai and Bridgeton and be pointed to Netflix. We can't see Fubar as an option here - why? in what was is this 'integration' working? its not - or at least haphazardly. Theres no reason Fubar doesnt show up in the UK as it's on our Netflix and its a 'Netflix original' as you say. Wednesday does also not show up here too via the Apple TV app.

That said, there is obviously no 'add to up next' option which is the one thing that we all want that Netflix seem unwilling to provide.

Frankly, if Netflix exposed their content to the AppleTV search then thats something at least and again would help them out with discoverability and leading traffic to their own app - but the results are inconsistent, haphazard, and not reliable enough to be of use in this way.
