Netflix needs to get past its inane practice of having different video quality per tier. All tiers need to support 4K etc, and customers choose less when they want to save bandwidth. The tiers need to differentiate in other ways only, like count of simultaneous views. And its also ridiculous that the lower priced plan is better quality than Basic which costs more.
In the states 4k content is the exception not the norm. It is considered premium content here. OTA 4K is a rarity.

Is the cheapest ad-free tier also getting an upgrade? That's the one I'm using.

EDIT: Actually I forgot that they already upgraded it to 1080p a few months ago.

EDIT 2: Wait no, still 720p but it's hidden in their UI now... damnit Netflix... So now you can pay more to get no ads but get a lower resolution... This is absolute rubbish.

Per Netflix

So this month we’ll upgrade the feature set of our ads plan to include 1080p versus 720p video quality and two concurrent streams in all 12 ads markets – starting with Canada and Spain today. We believe these enhancements will make our offering even more attractive to a broader set of consumers and further strengthen engagement for existing and new subscribers to the ads plan.

that’s all they said, nothing about ad-free, we can hope for the $2 more it’s the same without ads.

Not looking forward to the inevitable future where streaming platforms collectively agree to have only ad-supported plans so they can double dip on their customers by having both subscription fees and ads, just like how cable did. Netflix and Disney are clearly setting the stage here by making sure their ad-supported tiers are as attractive as possible to get customers gradually used to the idea. It's only becoming more obvious here with Netflix actually making the ad-supported tier get a higher resolution than the basic ad-free tier...

These companies still forget that single people still exist. I can’t watch 4 streams at once but I would like to watch in 4K, without Ads. Just give me ‘basic plus’ 1 stream, no ads and 4K
They just need a base price with additional cost for more streams/better quality, and a discount for taking ads.

Do not care. I will never pay to watch advertising. Advertising is like a cancer on society.
I don't mind short entertaining commercials, but I'm so sick off all the ones where they just take a pop song add use their own lyrics, almost 100% a prescription ad.

You do know there are a lot of us here don’t care for Apple trying to use their TV app to suggest content on everything they can use to suggest their app is so important. :D

So the fact that Netflix is big enough to say no to Apple is perfectly acceptable.
What it is is stupid because I don't watch their content like I used to now that all of my other apps are consolidated into the TV app. If they would sync, I would actually watch their content. I would pay them money for my own subscription if they helped me care about their platform, but as it is, the app sits unopened, logged into a family member's account.

I hope we don't ever fall into that pit.

Why do people really buy this Ad-based-option if they can easily get Netflix UHD via Türkiye for about 5$ per month?

I started using Netflix when it represented great value and convenience that appealed more than pirating and Putlocker. I’m afraid it lost that status a few years ago now, and articles like this remind me that it’s not coming back.

Apple Music and the likes will be the same if they don’t stop creeping up their prices… Though with that one, we’re dealing with greedy artists too.

Only worth it if they would

STOP TREATING THEIR SHOWS LIKE DISPOSABLE CAMERA AND CANCEL IT AFTER ONE OR TWO SEASON, EVEN IF IT’S POPULAR, BECAUSE ALGORITHM SAID SO………

Otherwise, one more price hike, and we’re done with Netflix, they clearly don’t care about viewers. Viewers don’t care if company offers cheaper plan, they want quality content like Hulu or Apple TV+ or Paramount+ provides. At the rate this is going, Netflix will die like Twitter.
Dude, usually it’s because it sucks. People see right through the agendas and virtue signalling. Nobody wants that crap rammed down their throat.

They want entertainment. Why do you think Apple TV is doing so poorly despite top talent and no lack of investment capital?
