Trying to justify theft is pathetic. There is no excuse. If you don't want to pay for it, then you shouldn't have it or act as if you're entitled to it.

It amazes me that people actually brag about stealing. You're no better than they guy that breaks into houses and steals Blu-Ray collections.
Netflix has become too political in many ways. They publicly supported many causes that some people may agree and some do not. If I support Netflx with monthly donations and Netflix supports a cause that is bad in my opinion, I feel like indirectly supporting that bad cause. I have no choice than boycotting those companies, but why should I punish myself by not watching their content? The same is true for much of Hollywood and the Entertainment industry.

I also do not want to support an industry that basically ignores that we live in the middle of one of the deadliest pandemics ever. There are some industries where it is necessary that people work to keep the country running, but not the entertainment industry. I simply will not pay for any movie where actors do not wear masks on the screen.

In the times of DVDs or VHS tapes I even sometimes paid. I bought physical copies of good movies like "Forest Gump". There you had something physical in your hands that you own. Those times are over. At Netflix you pay without owning anything and even services that allow you to "purchase" content, do not really give you the right to sell that content to someone else or give it to your children when you die. Companies like Apple and Amazon can even remove content after you bought it. You will get your money back of course, but owning content still is different.

Google got rich by stealing the content of others. There strategy is first to steel content for Google Books or Google News and then become so powerful that content providers HAVE to give them their content for free. They also steal private users data whereever they can even if the user does not agree or is not even a Google user. You go to a website that uses Google Fonts and Google will track you if you want it or not. I do not make money by stealing content. I just save that money and can use it for something else.

Like I said, trying to justify theft is pathetic and you just spent way too much time doing that. I didn't even read most of this crap. If you don't want to pay, you shouldn't have it and no amount of whining or ridiculous logic changes that.

Why should I pay for something that is available for free? If I really felt a moral obligation to donate money to someone, I would rather support animals or poor people in Africa than a company like Netflix. I do not know how I should describe it without starting a political debate, but Netflix uses some of the money it earns through subscriptions to support some very controversial things that even causes deaths. I do not want to support murder by buying a subscription.

Because it's not legally available for free. Anyway, I'm done with you. You're just ridiculously attempting to justify theft.

If it makes any difference, I am paying for the top tier and haven’t watched anything of late. So take it that I cancelled months ago and am paying for someone else’s account.

I don't know how much Netflix is blaming COVID but I wouldn't consider it a lame excuse. It's not the only reason behind the subscriber decline but is likely a notable factor. During COVID, movie theaters and other entertainment venues were shut down, people were spending a lot more time at home, etc. Between 2019 before COVID and 2021, the number of global Netflix subscribers increased significantly by over 45%. Netflix would've never reached the 221+ million subscriber number as quickly if not for COVID but as things started to open up again and people were able to get out more, it's only logical that some of the subscriptions added during COVID would be cancelled.

New content.....people need to interact to make a movie....right?

Just imagine in a train nobody would check the tickets. Legally you would still have to buy a ticket, but there would not be any fine for you if you don't. How many people would still buy a ticket?

You are not wrong about checking the ticket analogy , the truth is they can't do it since so many people do it online they have to investigate everyone although they try to catch the main sources like they shut down KAT site.

Actually, its the fault of the companies. Many times I want to buy something and its US only or UK only. People pay same Netflix subscription everywhere in the world but US library is much bigger. Sometimes the specific video show is not available for purchase. IIRC I wanted to watch an episode of Law and Order and it was not available for purchase online even in the US store.

The prices are ridiculous too. A bluray movie can cost up to $40 , many people will only watch it once. Buy 3 movies? $120. Meanwhile those discs are like $3 to manufacture probably. Lets not talk about a series which can cost $100-200 on its own. Buying epsiodes from iTunes store is like $2.99 each! no tax.

Guess what people will do when doing things the right way is actually more frustrating.

Not sure where you lived but I paid around $15 a month 90s dollars in the 90s. When a ppv event was around $30.

I have reviewed prices and it seemed like they were hoovering around $60. Maybe you had the lower tier or something? I could be wrong

It's like blaming Dreyers that Ice Cream sales are higher when its hot over cold.

It makes total sense but some people just hate Netflix (probably the one who share their parents account and can't afford their own).
