Good. Bring on the downvotes but like people who stole Adobe Photoshop back in the day leading to photoshop costing $700 for a license or whatever it was before Creative Suite subscriptions came along, we paid for people who were freeloading. If Netflix can get every household to pay their fare share, maybe these price hikes will stop being a yearly festivity.

...and if you don't like it, literally every show on Netflix is available on BitTorrent.

Yes, Adobe increased the price of Photoshop because of pirates... it had absolutely nothing to do with increasing profit margin. /s

between the price heikes, the decline in content quality, the increased competition, and now this?
I think they’re just trying to lose customers.
I guarantee you that for the people that share the passwords, the people that they share them with are not going to sign up for Netflix. They’ll pirate the files before they actually pay for them.
also, Netflix is so expensive that a lot of people like to split it. Instead of paying $20 a month, I pay $10, and someone else pays $10. This is pretty normal behavior.
Netflix just needs to get its head out of its own behind, and realize that they either have to lower prices, or sit down and shut up

Sure, if you convince yourself that something is too expensive then you can easily justify stealing it. If you think Netflix is too expensive then don’t subscribe but don’t turn around and steal it anyway.

People complaining about the high price apparently don't realize that Netflix might be a lot cheaper if all its users were actually paying customers.

Netflix currently has the most subscribers it's ever had and it's priced the highest it's ever been. Companies don't think "how do we make this cheaper for our customers?" they think only about "how do we extract as much value as possible from our customers?" as that is literally the sole objective of a public company as per US law. The only time you'll ever see a price reduction from a company is if their profit margin is under attack.

One way for Netflix to discourage this sharing is to simply make all tiers HD/4K capable. For example, I don't need 4 screens at the same time, but I don't want to be stuck in SD resolution either. Currently I have no choice but to pay at least for the 4 screen tier to get 4k.

If Netflix would simply allow the lowest tier to get 4K content (but limited to 1 screen), I'm sure there will be less people sharing.

False. People paid for the tier with simultaneous streaming. So the service shall provide what has been paid for.

Using your Adobe analogy, this is like you bought 2 licenses of Adobe Photoshop, and let your family member to use the second license, but Adobe asked him/her to get his/her own license and not used the one you already paid for because they're not "you" as the individual who purchased the license.
The tier with simultaneous streaming says that everyone who uses the account has to live in the same household, and always has.

I check Netflix maybe once a month and never find any good content to watch. The only reason my family still has it is because of maybe 1 or 2 TV shows that we can only find on there. It's probably cheaper for us to buy those TV shows each year a new season comes out on iTunes rather than pay Netflix every month.

Netflix needs to put prices up (fairly significantly) to stay in business, not lower them. They need an average monthly revenue per user of more like $30 - 40 dollars, and will get there eventually.

Netflix's pricing historically was a huge loss leader (funded by enormous debt). The service always cost much more to provide than the cash it generated.

We just had the first quarter in Netflix's history that it didn't have to borrow hundreds of millions.

Unfortunately. Netflix just want the money to increase the stock price. I highly doubt they won’t raise the prices again.
