The setting you're seeing in your Netflix account is the option to turn on/off "Play next episode automatically". If you disable that then you're taken back to the episode selection screen after the episode finishes instead of the next episode staring immediately afterwards. A 'feature' Netflix has notices when you've seen multiple episodes of a series and automatically starts to play them several minuets in, skipping the recaps of recent episodes that give you a rundown of the main events relevant to that episode, along with some small details you may have missed or forgot about if you're binge-watching a show for a few hours. It really impacts some shows more than others. I've heard people say they're missing the beginning of an episode when it plays before the opening theme. The show Weeds is a great example. They have different artists cover the opening theme song for each episode and a "short clip, different for each episode, that relates to the plot or some scene later in the episode." Removing that completely changes the experience watching the show. The option not available to change in your account settings is having the episodes play continuously and preventing anything from being removed from the episodes that are auto-playing after the first one you start. Netflix however can make the change on an individual's account from their end to prevent this.
