I don't get it. If you have a "Free Loader" as they call it, that you want to get rid of, why wouldn't you just change your password on your account?

The only reason to pay for a Netflix subscription is cause you can share it with others. Once they stop this, they'll be no more reasons to pay.

and often its an unequal share. if everyone who is sharing it an easily afford it and really wants it,generally they will pay for their own

my account is shared with one family member and one friend. therefore i have the premium at €16 a month and have it all year every year.

if i wasnt sharing it, i doubt the family member or friend would pay for it. i on the other hand would likely drop to HD and more importantly, id likely cancel and rejoin, probably on a two month cycle. i find less and less good stuff on Netflix so could easily switch it on and off but wouldnt mess around other people.

So Netflix would likely get 6x €12 rather than 12x €16.

For me, netflix should fix the basics. stop the constant price rises, stop filling it with hundreds of average polish series and get back to always having one great great series at any one time.

I have no respect for Netflix honestly. They don't care about content other than what's in English. They don't even put the audio track translations when they exist. Even some movies originally made in French and in Quebec have mandatory english subtitles. I wasn't able to remove them even if they were toggled off, they weren't overlays, they were actually part of the video. They deserve the stocks crash they got since the last 12 months.
That is par for the course with Amazon (e.g. "Portrait de la jeune fille en feu"*), but I've never seen this with Netflix. All their original content and most of their newer content has a wide variety of subtitles and dubbed audio tracks available. And I've never seen a non-English show with burned-in subtitles on Netflix. The majority of what I watch on Netflix is original Spanish or French content, and I'm starting to add some German shows (most recently "Das letzte Wort"). And burned-in English subs would be a deal-breaker.

I can believe that you ran across some show on Netflix that had burned-in English subs, but it's not their standard practice. And I'd guess that is the only version they had available to them.

* I waited to watch "Portrait" until after the blu-ray came out, because it was the only way I could find to watch it without English subs. Our local theatre also only showed it with English subs.

Netflix has the issue with the "freeloaders" not necessarily the account holder. Some account holders provide their account/password to others in order to allow them to share the account and subscription cost with multiple people. Doing so can violate the terms of use and Netflix is trying to crackdown on this.

I am paying highest amount for Netflix and very much satisfied with the service. Prime is so so and I don't watch AppleTV at all, though subscribed (a moment of madness, I know). Netflix and Youtube are generally all we watch in our household.

Honestly I agree with the above assessment. People seem to confuse
"Netflix has lots of stuff that doesn't appeal to me" with
"Netflix has no stuff that I like".
Nextflix is just massive, yet people seem to consider a personal insult aimed at them that much of that stuff is not to their taste!

Nextflix may not be perfect BUT they don't go through the stupidity contortions AMZ does to force their app to restart (and waste a minute of my life) EVERY TIME I switch away from it for longer than 30 seconds.
When I rebalance my portfolio, when AMZ annual subscription runs out, one of these two will be killed and it won't be NFLX.
And killed for the dumbest, easiest thing in the world to fix -- not content choice, but having an unbearably cr*ppy app!

How about stop charging me for a "family" account as a single to get 4K then. Idiots. It is almost schizophrenic. They demand us to stop sharing an account but at the same time they do not offer a proper single option
I don't use Netflix, so I'm a little confused. You appear to be saying, (and I'm paraphrasing here), "I don't like the offerings they have so I'll bend the rules and steal what I want"?

Am I way off the mark?

Suspect they will initially go after accounts with HUGE number of concurrent users at many different locations. They could always do what some of the computer aided design companies (AutoCAD) have done in the past: Have plans for 1, 5. 10, 25 named users, and distribute plug-in dongles. OR key fobs or smart cards like corporations or government agencies use to display pass codes that are good for sign-on, but change every few minutes (keyed at log-on time, along with user id and password). OR when it is economically possible, check registered finger prints or iris scans.

Netflix is definitely not going to allow account sharing. Netflix should consider lowering it's subscription charges.

That is still not going to convince me to renew my Netflix membership account.

The subscription will stay terminated for a very long time. Lost my trust after they got money hungry 💰.
I was on Netflix strike for a long time and I only came for Sandman and to watch Vampire diaries again lol. But now I think it's time to cancel again.

honestly, i think yes you are off the mark. i dont think there's any stealing going on, and the breaking of the rules is something netflix has been well aware of, effectively encourages by only packaging 4k with 4 packs of accounts and now wants to throw its dummy.

if netflix forces me to pay for 4 logins to get 4k, i dont remotely feel guilty about letting other people use those logins whatever netflix rules say. and if netflix stops me then im likely to spend much less with them as will many people.

incidentally, whilst i dont think that poster was saying what you said, many people will. like all tv, everything netflix makes is available easily for free if people want to steal it. im happy to pay for it in part because its right and in part because i like how often i will watch stuff on netflix and really like it that i might not have downloaded from a site.

But at some stage, if the quality keeps waning, if i have to keep paying for 4 screens but not be allowed to let people use them, and the cost goes up, im likely to start turning off my sub and then i might not bother turning it back on if i get used to finding the stuff elsewhere.

Maybe it's different where you're at, but in the U.S. people would rather go hungry than cancel Netflix

and it along with YouTube are still the number 1 streaming services wanted by teens

Think that just goes to prove what damage technology has on people. If that is the case then seriously people need to come off technology. It should be there to supplement your life, not be your life.
I don't see them failing any time soon.

To my understanding, @contacos is saying that since he is already paying the higher subscription tier for Netflix, it's well within justification to let a friend or family member use his account to watch Netflix once in a while. Especially considering that Netflix was encouraging this very behaviour a few years ago.

You can't say it's okay to share accounts one moment, then turn around and accuse these very people of being thieves the next.
