But let's not forget the unfortunate fact that very, very few first run movies are offered on the streaming site, and that even a lot of older movies that you will look for will be unavailable for download. Not Netflix's fault, mind you. It's a byproduct of the greedy studios' continued fear of the reality of the future. PLEASE BOYCOTT PURCHASING ANY DVDs or BLU-RAY DISCS.

Very true that they typically don't stream new releases, but that doesn't bother me much. I have over 50 movies in my streaming queue and only 2 in my DVD queue. There just aren't that many good new releases.

I believe to stream onto your computer you need an Intel mac.

I have a 2009 macbook pro that's my computer... it's hooked up via ethernet because it's faster than the mini. (WAY a lot...) Acting as the main computer since our wireless is busted. Gotta get a wireless card for the mini. Be pretty silly to have wireless just on my macbook-- there'd be no computer in here for the family to use internet. (I'll still have the fast as f*ck connection though. )

Edit; I also have an ipod. I didn't say that. (I know what I'm talking about...)

This is great news. Netflix streaming is great for small devices like this where you don't notice all those compression artifacts. Let's hope Netflix doesn't detect iPad/iPhone vs other, bigger devices and compress the feed even more though.

The movies are streamed, and are unlimited in quantity - you can watch them 24/7. :)

The only limitation, other than on the titles available for streaming, is on the number of concurrent movies that you can stream, if you have the 2-DVD plan you can only stream 2 movies at the same time. It makes a difference if you have teenagers or kids at college. BTW, I love Netflix, great service.

Apple and Netflix--two of my favorite things. Putting them together feels amazing.

I can get the ipad thing but the iphone screen is so tiny, I just can't see myself doing netflix on that.

yep. the plug in that they use doesn't work on PPC.

If they can get shows like House up on the UK version as quickly as they are on the US version, It'll be a keeper for sure.

one thing to be clear about is that they don't get stuff as soon as it airs. it's all based on the DVD releases. And even then, with some movies and such they don't get anything until 2-4 weeks after the brick and mortar release

Is there any way to play the netflix streams off your iphone to onto another device with a larger screen? (like a portable DVD player?)

I love having Netflix. It allowed me to get rid of my 100+ satellite subscription. I am guessing that this app will also work on the touch. It better. They may not have the greatest selection of Movies instantly but their TV library is getting very good

I'm looking forward to this. Though I also hope they could somehow resolve the issue of distribution rights, so that I can still watch movies while traveling abroad. Right now, as soon as you're out of the US, your Netflix experience is over.
