I can’t even keep all the devices within my household logged in at all times. Constantly getting kicked out. There are people out there with multiple houses using the same login?
Yes, what seems so odd about this to you? Me and my wife are in the same household, her son is in another, her mother is, yet in another. And I have relatives who sometimes use my login overseas. Not a single issue.

How? Those people aren't paying them anyways. Removing people who aren't paying doesn't cost them anything.

In fact, those people are using bandwidth, which costs Netflix money. Removing them saves them money.
Not really. If I pay them every month and share my one of my two consecutive screens with my family, they make money. Once I can’t share, there’s no reason to pay for two screens. Unfortunately, one screen is low res. So instead, I won’t pay them anything. They use less bandwidth but make less money. How that shakes out on a larger scale is still up in the air.

Share with my brother who is in another country. If they cut us off we will not pay as it won't be worth it for us. None of us use it that often to justify the cost but as we have shared it made sense.
So good luck Netflix, lets see if you gain or lose in the end.

I literally haven’t watched anything enjoyable on Netflix in months. At this point the only reason I’m not unsubscribing is the reason I share my account with a friend and family member.

I will have zero problems dropping them and just downloading the 1-2 shows worth watching from, uh, my sources.

I wonder how many people who pay full price for their subscription now will find someone else with a plan to pay $3/month to in order to get a "legal" account for much, much less. If anything this might encourage legal sharing among people who weren't sharing before.

Please define "household" . I have kids in college in another state. They are still a part of my "household", according to the IRS.
You will apparently be able to give a verification code to them so they can log in to the account. I’m guessing that will work for most

My guess is it would boil down to their legal address, which in this case I would assume is your home. You should be good.

The problem I have with paying for Netflix is that they pay a lot of money to people that I do not really want to support directly or indirectly. Netflix does not seem to see any moral problems with paying convicted criminals huge amounts of money for helping them produce a documentary about their case. It is possible that even Amber Heard might get a lucrative Netflix deal. In Germany it would be illegal to create profits from a crime in that way, but in the US that does not seem to be a problem. Netflix might even give Ted Bundy a deal, if he was still alive.

For example, my son has the subscription. I pay half to him. If he has to pay the full amount, he’ll stop. So will I.

I’ll just sign up, binge the shows I want then cancel. I’ll do the same with Paramount+ etc. revolving door of binging.
So they'll be making money part of the time, by just having you as a member when you want it, but not losing money by supplying shows to you and your son sharing.

That's still a net win for them.

It says they'll likely use IP addresses and device IDs. So if a device doesn't log in from your "home" IP address within a certain period of time, it will probably considered not part of your household. That way you can use Netflix on your devices when you travel because those devices regularly connect from your home IP when you're back home.

From Netflix:
“A Netflix account is for people who live together in a single household. This single household is the Netflix household and is associated with the primary account owner’s devices and the devices used by other people who live in the Netflix household.”

I'm not sure how I feel about Netflix spying through IP addresses, and device IDs. What happens if you use a VPN? How are they going to crack that down?
They've already captured this for years.

"Spying"? You realize that this website is capturing your IP address and other information about you right now, right? They're also sending your information to Google, who is using that information for advertising and other purposes.

What I would be okay to see from Netflix plans:
$7 Ad supported Single account
$15 Ad supported Family plan up to 4 accounts
$10 Ad-free Single account
$20 Ad-free Family plan up to 4 accounts
All plans support 4K and no screen # limit.

By forcing people to pay for 4 screens to get 4K quality, people are offsetting the extra cost by sharing. Netflix policy is driving people to sharing.

I don't share an account, I just don't subscribe to Netflix as there isn't an option I like. I suspect many not allowed to share will follow my path. Sharers not subscribing at all brings in less money than a shared account.

The sensible route is for Netflix to offer a 1 screen 4K package at a sensible price, but I doubt they will be sensible.
