ok here is a joke.
what if you download all the shows to a device, and create a shortcut that will shut Wi-Fi off when netflix open+ turn off background app refresh.
this Is for the college guy
I’ve tried that with Apple Music, just for a laugh, ahaha. Even if you are playing locally the device needs to connect to the internet every so often to verify your subscription, or you get ‘content not authorised’. I have an old 128GB SE that is used mostly offline either at home on my Hi-Fi or in the car, but only for so long, then it must connect, even if just for a few seconds.
But how I have really gamed the system to play 2 of my own devices at once is to take either of my phones completely offline before I start playing. My wife can then listen online with my other phone or laptop at the same time.
Oh, one other major gripe I have with Netflix, no macOS app. Even Prime has one, for Apple Silicon, and I only pay €25/year for Prime, with 3 profiles, 3 simultaneous streams, and no complaints or threats about password sharing. The only catch is my FIL now has full access to my Amazon Account, but he is 82 years old and to date has never shopped online.
I don't think I need to explain how handy it is to have apps like this for offline viewing. Even in western Europe there are places with weak or zero internet. Road side motels?....I've given up on most of them, especially for streaming. Leaving for Austria next week and still haven't finished the latest Jack Ryan. At least Prime will allow we to take it with, on my M1 Air, which as many know is super light and thin and goes the whole day on one charge, and then some. A perfect travellers laptop.
So when Netflix comes out with a macOS app there is a slightly better chance I might stick around. We already pay enough, at least offer a semi-decent usable product that's worth it.
But I think I've said enough now, we are starting to talk in circles. Have a nice day/rest of the year ya'll!
