Re: Spymac is Crap.

Nice call, glowurm. When was spymac ever right?

They predicted so many things: iWalk, iBox, I-whatever, and all they get for it is a pat on the back and a $40 paycheck for citing themselves. :)

iWalk, iSit, iType, iThinkThatSpymacDoesNothingButLie.

As for screen resolution in this 19 inch monitor, it would probably be at or slightly above the 17 inch version in # of pixels (guessing).

Any time is a great time for iPod.

As spymac says, the 22" may be discontinued and a 19" released..how about a 21" introduced to replaced the 22, then we would have a 15, 17, 19, 21 and 23" model line of displays..

Do you trust spymac? :)

I think it would be pretty unintelligent for Apple to have five display types...what would consumers think? I would assume that three (currently four) would be the most Apple would offer, since the price ranges might then become too confusing.
15" $599
17" $999
19" $1399 (maybe)
21" $1999 (maybe)
23" $3494
These prices are just possibilities. But what if LCD prices come down and the price ranges converge? Then the issue would become more complicated.

I would rather see Apple with three, maybe four, displays for offer, rather than adding to complication. Just my opinion.

Apple's not dumping their lowest end offering.. because prices haven't come down.. They aren't about to leave the lowest end at a higher price.. It would be shooting themselves in the foot.. They will be dumping the 22, because generally speaking, those who could afford a 22, can also afford a 23. The 22 and the 23 compete too closely, so it will be bye-bye for the 22 the second the 19 inch is released. Mark my words.. There are two likely line-ups:

15, 17, 19, 23..

But I find for product differentiation, Apple will more likely do this:

15, 19, 23.. That provides the more traditional small, medium, large choice that people are familiar with.. With a perfect 4 " step between each choice.

My now antique (but still working) and phenomenally deep (front to back) NEC 17" MultiSync from 1995 looks kinda nice with a mirrored image from my iBook, but having a 19" flatscreen for it and an anticipated G5 system (to replace the crappy 6100/66 that sits beneath the hulking NEC) would ease my desktop real estate problems.

The ol' NEC went for $1000; would hope that the 15" is cancelled too, so that the 19" could come in at that price.

One of the big business magazines (might've been Forbes or Business Week) reports that the LCD makers are not making a decent profit. Despite the dramatically increasing sales of all types of lcds, there is a price war. Manufacturers are trying to capture market share.

If you are thinking of buying now, don't wait. There's a small likelihood of prices dropping anytime this year.

Great. An opportunity for LCD makers to drop prices, and some greedy bastard who already has a million dollar mansion and a ferrari wants more market share. Sounds kinda like MS...

19 inches would be good, but I wouldn't get it. I'd probably want the 17 or 15 inch, seeing as that I dont have tons of money to spend on displays. I also need a new computer to use them effectively...

What Apple needs to attract the lower end pro users, who need more than an iMac, is lower priced displays.
