27-24 is 3 inches.

Do you see a difference in size between a 13 inch MBP and a 16 inch? Because that's 3 inches too, and there is a huge difference in screen size and cost in those 3 inches.
Yeah I guess. That's a fair comparison..

I guess in that case also that between 16 - 21.5 is a bigger 5.5" which is a bigger difference so why not keep that model by that logic?

I think if the 27" was going to get this update I'd ask the question why wasn't it introduced when the the 21.5/24 refresh happened. For me its because there's a new product coming in that's enough difference that it requires a separate timeframe. There's a reason they did away with the iMac Pro silently.

I'd be expecting a monster cost 30" iMac Pro to be the product to sit above what we have currently. Speculation of course.

I don’t think there will be an iMac Pro anymore the inacs will be for everyday people
Which is kind of odd since there is a Macbook PRo line, an ipad pro, and iphone pro, and air-pods pro, and of course a mac pro. So having a normal and pro tag kind of is where the whole line is going more or less. I still think, colors or not, that at least one version of the 27" will have a pro tag and upped specs, and maybe the "dark colors". We'll see...

iMac Pro in space grey.

I don´t think so. They will not use the space grey again because they removed the external keyboard from the shop half a year ago. The last intel MacMini was in space grey as well and the latest M1 is silver again. This could be a sign...

I think this points to the 27 having the same design as the 24. Too bad--I was hoping it would be based on the XDR. Oh well.

A range of fun colors means that all the colors are fun as compared to what was excepted (silver and space grey)

All of the red blue yellow green colors being more fun than grey
But silver and space grey could be fun to those so inclined!

It is telling me what my reaction to a colour "should" be.

The only difference between the 24 inch model and the XDR (aside from colors) is the chin. I don't think Apple is going to ditch the chin on the iMac line--too iconic and I think Apple likes it.

My hope for the iMac re-design has been: (1) Mini/mico-LED and (2) 30 inches.

I think cost is going to keep this machine at 27 inches with M1 PRO/MAX chips.

Maybe they make a 30 inch and call it iMac Pro, but I've given up on that dream.

I'm sorry but I disagree

Might be more beautiful or classy, but not fun

A workplace painted in gray is ,to you, just as fun as a room painted in blue or red ?

Perhaps I have a childish definition of fun tho ,but grey isnt fun at all to me

I don't find a red room fun. Probably more like oppressive, though precise shade, lighting, etc., could move that somewhat.

How about colors/textures for adults? Maybe black with red accents (or vice versa), or black with carbon-fiber trim or back? These "fun" colors might look awesome in a college dorm but apart from neutral white or silver, the other colors look like a kids room.

I would LOVE a white! SO APPLESQUE!
Ohhhhhh white !! I think I'd love that too
Surprised they haven't made a white yet,not a pure black Mac (matte ) which would look amazing ;

But won't white get Dirty too easily?

Edit: forgot we were talking bout iMacs, not MacBooks.
For MacBook white may not be a great idea ...

I'm real curious how the M1 Silicon situation affects this. The Intel chips had something to do with the issues preventing it.
Actually, the issue was that on the original 5k iMac Thunderbolt 2 didn’t have enough bandwidth to drive the whole display (the displays at the time required two displayport connections)

TDM probably hasn’t returned because Apple’s likely betting on a software solution like sidecar for iOS

A casual dusting on occasion kept mine nice and shiny :) And no discoloration on the matching mechanical keyboard!
