Annnndddd there goes the last reason to buy a nMacpro...
Do you mean that machine that Apple advertised so heavily during their keynote back then and ridiculed the naysayers by saying "can't innovate anymore, my ass"?
Do you mean the machine that hasn't seen any updates for another 2 years again?

Their pace of market share improvements in the PC business isn't really deserved these days.
They treat their computers way too much as orphans... or their customers, however you want to look at it.

64gb?!? Well I guess I really have to upgrade now.

Just kidding. Just got my 2011 back from Apple after a replacement of the video card. I hope and expect this gets me to well into next year.

The good old days....feel like I should sing a song :)

My earliest Mac ran Tiger, but I used to own a PowerBook 540C for fun... my fellow geek took it from me, but he won't have even used it - I recently requested it be "re-allocated" back to me. I have a lot of fun with old OS' :) - esp OS 9.2.2 "Eeep!"

This is awesome... I want to buy one and i'll probably have it for 6 years. 64 GBs of RAM would be nice once it gets cheap

The price is high because its new I remember when 16GB was that expensive. OWC was the only maker at the time of 8gb chips. prices will go down once the market increases.

True but then they'll be a 128GB model....then what to do!!!!

Those 500s were awesome in their time, I remember my brother having one from work specced up and I think it cost something like £4,000!

not buying until they bring Target Display Mode back. Love the 5K screen, but I want to see other things on it other than the computer inside it. The computer becomes obsolete, but an extra screen will stay useful for a very long time.

Totally agree. Wont happen until Thunderbolt 3 is released. This time next year

Here I am with 6GB in my Mac Pro, waiting for the whole thing to break so I can buy or build something totally overpowered.

Time to make a ramdrive and run my os from there.
Uhhh, won't that get erased if you don't write it all to disk before shutdown? :D Edit: Oh, I see someone already mentioned that. Problem is there's nothing in the OS to automatically load and save the RAM disk to/from storage media. Maybe we'll have that feature coming up.
