The redesigned Mac Pro will probably look the same. Except It'll be a little more tapered at its edges, and guess what? it'll come with a black border on all its edges!

Just maybe if you're lucky, you might get some glass in there as well. :D

And yes, it's sad the design direction Apple has taken.

As for the topic, I think the new ACDs are ugly. All they needed to do was add an isight to the current display, and better cord, powerbrick management, and it would have been perfect.

Guess I am in the minority here but I am so glad that they have added the black bezel. As you can see in my sig I have 2 black macbooks and have no intention of getting the new silver macbooks I am not happy they got rid of the blackbooks and kept that horrible white model. The monitor I have now is a black Sony 23" which I bought a couple of years ago to replace a silver Sony monitor I found that having silver around the display was too distracting when working. When I switched over to macs from windows I really wanted to get the ACD but didn't as I didn't want to go back to silver again.

Once I know that adapters are available I will get the new ACD to use with my mac mini :apple::)

Beware

Even if you find an adapter for this it still won't work unless your computer is on your desk. The video cable is very short and probably won't reach a Mac Pro sitting on the floor.

Apple clearly intend this display to be just for the new Macbooks.

I recently bought the 20" ACD and I really, really love it. I went round and round trying to figure out what display to buy, looking into Dell and Samsung and Apple, and learning about the different types of panels and so on, and finally returning back to the S-IPS 20" ACD.

It was worth . . . every . . . penny.

And I hate, HATE, the new black border and glossy glass display direction that Apple is taking. Just my own personal aesthetic preference, of course, and I don't mean to give offense to those of opposite view, but, this whole new direction that Apple has taken makes me really, really glad I bought an older style, DVI input, ACD. It makes me want to go out and buy the 30", actually, but I just don't have the money for one.

I just recently bought a pre-Oct 14 MBP (the "Classic" as it is now called, I guess), and I much prefer it to the new MBP's, largely due to the aesthetics, but also because it has a DVI port on it, and because it has USB inputs on either side of the machine, and a front loading optical drive. Mostly, though, because of the matte screen with silver surround. Sooooo much better, to my taste, than the new ones.

I don't mind that Apple has gone the black glass glossy route for the consumer level products, but I DO mind that they have done the same for the pro line. And I fear that the ACD's will be the next under the axe. That will be a sad day, and one on which I may think very seriously about getting a 30" ACD on closeout somewhere.

the new ACDs with all that gloss and black stuff around it makes it really a failure and plus the displayport is quite a drag. why cant they just stick with the mini-dvi that they have been using for years. i really dont know...
