Basically, I hate them. I know MacRumors needs ads to survive. And I love Mac Rumors—I’ve checked in daily for over ten years. But these new ads that pop up from the bottom of the screen on my iPhone are so ugly and distracting that it makes me want to jump ship. Am I alone in this?

Gotcha. I see it. Let me work on it.

FWIW we generally have 3 tiers of ad intensity:

1. Anonymous users - get the full ads
2. Logged in users - relatively unobtrusive ads
3. Paid members - no ads

Footers should fall under #2 but we don’t usually run them on the front page, but looks like our ad network might have changed something. Let me look into that.

Notable exception to above are /amp/ pages because we can’t check logged in status. There may be a way but we don’t right now.
