I have AirPods Pro. The next gen AirPods Pro could have better noise cancellation and the goal should be to make them slip-resistant. Current AirPods Pro can be very slippery...like they were designed to be slippery.

Looking forward to the delivery of my Beats Studio Buds on Friday. Can’t wait to rock the black buds at work while on patrol

I love them, but the charging contacts (in the case) need a redesign. They too often lose connection, resulting in the AirPods not only failing to charge, but ‘connecting’ when you don’t want them to, thus further draining the battery!

The original AirPods were worse in this regard, but the AirPods Pro have the same issue. The internal contacts need to be larger so the surface area of contact is greater. It’s the ONLY thing I don’t like about them.
I have this issue on both my gen 1 and gen 2 AirPods.

I'd like a new pair of regular AirPods. I love my first and second generation ones primarily because they aren't in ear like most other truly wireless buds. I'm hesitant to buy another pair, however, because on both sets, it is tough to get one of the AirPods to charge. It doesn't seat properly in the case. This may be because I do run in them, which means they do get sweaty sometimes.

Anyone have any recs on other truly wireless headphones to try?
i love the original airpods design as well. if they discontinue them — i'll stock up on some gen 2. of course i have apple care on mine and can just use them indefinitely.
not sure what the charging issue you're describing is all about though...

Same here, the silicone tipped earbuds like AirPods Pro don't stay in my ears when running which is why I prefer the regular AirPods.
Haha. I had the opposite problem.

I ordered AirPods 16 on the first day available, got them and returned them 2 days later. Even sitting still, the fine hairs in my ear flap would act like springs lifting them up and popping them out of the drain slot which was too wide open to grip the AP16’s stem.

Replaced these with BeatsX. First pair had a torn front strain reliever. Replacement set failed after a year due to cable fatigue at rear strain reliever. Although the fit and the device switching were great and sound good, their durability was crap (and I was gentle with them. It should have been a tired battery after years of use that would be their end. )

Sister recently won a set of AirPods Pro 19’s, but already had a pair, so she’s sending to me. Must say I’m vm looking forward to them as I expect the best of both worlds from them.

I hope they still make a model that doesn't use the silicone ear trips. I just don't prefer those.
Agreed 100%. I specifically prefer the AirPods because I want wireless earbuds, nothing more. I use them for phone calls every single day. Anything with the silicon ear tip plugs your ears and you naturally strain your voice. I hope AirPods stay AirPods and do not incorporate anything else. They hit the bullseye for people who use them for phone calls.

that’s why I ordered gen2 AirPods the other day when on sale

my AirPod pros I don’t like for calls or casual YouTube videos

but they’re good for fun music listening sessions

I love my regular AirPods. I can wear them for hours. I find them more comfortable than the pros.

I would love to be able to get the new 14" MacBook Pro and 3rd gen AirPods in the B2S discount but I don't see it happening. Either way, these are a day one buy for me.

Ditto.

I really hope there's a refreshed AirPods option (or I'll be getting another set of the 2nd gens soon). The in-ear buds just aren't as comfortable IMO, especially for longer use. The regular AirPods also have such a low profile to the side — I can wear them while laying down without them feeling like they're pressing into my skull.

So the beats have ANC but no H1/W1 Chip and cost $149.99 and the new airpods will lack ANC but have the W1/H1 chip. Not sure how it will make sense for the airpods to be priced above the beats, but it is apple after all.
Seems like Apple is trying to differentiate Apple branded audio products and beats branded ones. Apple branded will focus on seamless connectivity with other Apple products, while beats brand will focus on putting out standard general features regardless of platform.

Which is interesting change of strategy. At the beginning, Apple is taking beats into Apple focused brand with W1 chip and lightning for charging. But maybe they realized with the success of Airpods that the Apple brand itself is already larger than beats in audio, so the relegated beats into a different segment.

Hard to see people choosing to obsolete their existing products with these. It would take a huge step forward for me to upgrade my AirPods Pros - they work so well!

They've been expected for what? A whole year already?

Kind of ridiculous. I might as well say "Airpods 4 will be coming sometime" and be correct too

I just got the airpods Pros yesterday . They are pretty nice I must say.

To put this in context, this is my first ever set of airpods. I have had the cheap SoundPeats ones before. The integration and ease of use is a big factor with Apple products and these are no exception. Movies on Disney+ sound great.

I got my AP pro just several days ago too. Agreed, they are excellent (most especially after I went in and adjusted settings>music to allow lossless, atmos, messed with the EQ presets). It would take a lot of $$$ to replicate that sound quality on an external audio system(which is to say I'd love to be able to do that :)). The ear fit test was especially useful for me. However, the auto detect feature has had a couple of spotty moments. I turned it off. Noise cancellation is very good (though don't expect every sound to be blocked out). The reading of incoming text messages is especially useful for my use case. And for actually wearing them, by today I barely notice them in my ears.
It was an easy setup as I expect (and pay for) from Apple. It did take me a few tries to get the single pod usage right (for phone calls) as well as some tries to get the optimum processfor easy switching between sources (ATV, iPhone, MBA).

If someone is Apple eco IMHO AP pro is your best option (I got mine for 189$). Yet I did hesitate with 'new model may be coming'. That's a waiting game I try not to play unless the news is much more concrete than some suppliers are receiving manufacturing parts.

I hope they don't put silicone tips on the non-Pros, it's nice to have the choice (silicone when I'm outside and need noise cancelation, none when I don't).

I don't think they will - it's part of the differentiation isn't it.

These seem to be aimed at the AirPods group, not the pros. New airpod pros will come out to replace those eventually.
