The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro are so close that there really is little point in a 12 Pro Mini. Is the third camera and steel instead of aluminium really what puts you off the 12 mini? Or is it more that you buy the Pro out of principle and a non-Pro mini just doesn't have the same ring to you?
I didn't buy either, I have an SE2. But if I was going to buy a 12, it would be the 12 Pro, hands down. Why? Because of all of: the price diff is minimal compared to the actual price; the features; the cool colours; the prestige. I'd even consider the 12 Pro Max, but haven't seen or held one in person to know if it fits in my pocket nicely or not. However, the price of even the Mini is insane for a phone, so I can't justify anything more than the SE, which I only bought last year when my 6 fell in the sink after all those years. The SE might possibly last me just as long.

I can't understand why the iPhone 12 mini didn't become the 'new' SE. It surely would've made more sense to sell a smaller phone as a budget product - especially in marketing terms.
Hard to see the link between a smaller phone and a budget phone. People definitely don’t want to lose features to get their ideal size.

The ”bigger is better” thinking seems very, VERY old fashioned.
I hear this a lot about phones and cars. Well some us us are not 5'0" and 100lbs. Most vehicles smaller than a truck or full-size SUV often don't fit comfortably. BTW I never bought an iPhone till the plus came out. Why? It didn't fit my hands. I tried the firs then SE, my finger covered like 4 letters when I tried to use the keyboard.

I hate a huge phone in m pocket carrying it but if the form factor is as small as the original SE, I can only use it as a phone or talking to SIRI.

I’m second guessing myself now. This morning I read that it might have an LCD screen with no bezels and Touch ID in the power button. I guess that would be even better for those interested in such a phone.
If that were the case, I think Apple would base it’s new SE on the X (5.8 screen) and just update internals. XR or 11 don’t have any chance to become the new SE (by now), due to the screen size (6.1) with an updated SoC would be very close to the 12 and next 13 (which I think will be 12S).

Is there any truth to the rumor that they're going to discontinue the "regular AirPods" form factor? I don't like the Pro-style earbuds that work like earplugs; I like the regular ones which just sit in the ear and don't go all the way in.

If they're going to be discontinued soon I may buy one last pair so I can keep using the design I like for a few more years at least, as my current pair has dying batteries.
Just wait and see.

If they do discontinue them you’ll probably be able to pick them up on a sweet deal.

I have the originals, I want the pros but can’t justify it. No noise canceling sucks but it’s definitely good when walking near traffic and crossing roads.

Good to know; I hope it is April. My 1st gen AirPods barely stay connected, and I really miss having them in during the day.

If the iPhone SE will become better than iPhone 11 Pro MAX then I will switch intro the iPhone SE. Then for your kind information.
Obviously that’s not gonna happen. SE will always be the budget iPhone, and will be “designed” lacking some features to avoid cannibalize the high end iPhones.

In Apple's 2020-2021 lineup, the 2020 SE is the $399 iPhone and the Xr is the $499 iPhone: Obviously, releasing a 64GB 5.5" 2020 SE at $499 or $549 would completely murder all sales of the XR and many of the 4.7" 2020 SE sales.

If it the 5.5" 2020 SE costs $599 then it's dead at launch because now it's same price but less features than the $599 iPhone 11.

They need to shut this "new 5.5" SE in 2021" rumor down because it goes completely against the purpose of the SE: To offer a budget friendly iPhone that has just enough new features to be desirable but also not enough features to keep you from wanting to upgrade to a more advanced iPhone.

No consumer will agree to paying for a more expensive iPhone unless there are significant tradeoffs to going with a less expensive model.

The only way this would work would be if Apple lowered the 4.7" SE to $299 and launched the 5.5" SE at $399. But even that wouldn't make sense because then Apple is even more aggressively cannibalising the $499 Xr and $599 11.

5.5" 2020 SE is not coming!

As I am unable to use any OLED iphone I will pay whatever price Apple wants for a SE Plus if it's an 8 plus with an updated processor. Better speakers and slightly higher capacity battery would be welcomed.

I'd actually prefer a 7 Plus body to get a metal back as the glass sandwich design of any phone, 8 plus in this case, is a poor design choice just to achieve wireless charging. A glass back is more fragile and I hate holding glass in my hand, especially as the phone warms up - it just makes my skin sweat! And I'm not gonna use a case.

I hope they release an iPhone SE Plus (iPhone 8 Plus) form factor. My Dad is on a 7 Plus on it’s last legs and frankly I don’t think he would like Face ID.
I absolutely hate Face ID (aside from the extra Covid-19 hassles it brings). My iPhone X's Face ID has been a nightmare since day one. I just had the screen replaced under warranty, and if anything, it's worse. I would love an up-to-date Touch ID phone (although there are also rumors that Touch ID will not be on a new SE.)
