Has anyone been successful to get spatial audio working with a iPad Pro (10.5 inch) 2017? It works with my iPhone...

So 16 pages here, I didn't read every one.. sorry.. but mine finally upgraded. Started to listen to Spotify this morning and my airpod pros sound like absolute s#%t now.. static, humming, crap.. I rebooted the phone (even tho it rebooted on installing the GM of iOS 14) and still crap.. going to unpair and re-pair but anyone have this happening? They work fine with my Macbook Pro for Webex calls (which Im on 8-10 hours a day) so Im confused

Is spatial audio coming to Apple TV device? The reason I ask is I’ve updated Apple TV today and no spatial audio, which is a real disappointment.

P.S I love spatial audio, really good on iPad Pro but would love it to work on Apple TV device.

Answer my own question - NO APPLE TV WILL NOT SUPPORT SPATIAL AUDIO

ATV, any version (and Macs for that matter), do not support Spatial Audio.

It requires a gyroscope and accelerometer in the playing device, which is why it’s restricted to iPhone and iPad.

“Requires iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, or iPhone SE (2nd generation).”

I was hoping it would support virtual surround sound, and just not include the head turning aspect on the TV, which is cool but not as useful IMHO. I mostly use my AirPods the watch TV and rarely use my iPad or iPhone, so I was looking forward to this feature on my Apple TV, bummer it's not supported.

Exactly what I was thinking. No need the “Follow” just the virtual surround.

What is a bummer for me is the spatial audio feature is supported on iPad 6th gen and not the iPad pro 10.5 which is more powerful.

Same thing for me. I do have an old iPad Pro 9.7”, maybe that’s the reason I’m not seeing it?

Yeah, I have the same issue and just found the compatibility list: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211775

Booo!

What you need

I don't see why gyroscope and accelerometer would be needed on a device that is stationary anyway?

And yes, it is impressive on iPhones and iPads. Would be great on the Apple TV for watching movies without making noise.

The spatial audio is absolutely wild! Turn your head 90 degrees from the phone to see it work. Two thumbs up Apple.

Edit: The more I use it, it can be a little off putting. It gives me the sense that my Airpods aren't working and sound is coming from the iPhone. (Yes, I know that's the point :) )
Why would anyone want that? I'd want the sound stage comsistent no matter which way I turn my head. Cool concept but still gimmicky. I can see people using it for a little bit and then disabling it from being annoyed.

Wow, the Apple TV really got the shaft on the AirPod update. Automatic Switching doesn't work either. That was a big feature I was hoping for, which works great between my iPhone and iPad, but I really wanted it on my Mac and Apple TV too. Hopefully the OS X update is getting it. Spacial Audio is unreal on my iPad and iPhone, I'm just blown away but don't understand why it can't be done on Apple TV when it uses the sensors in the AirPods??

I just installed iPadOS on my iPad Pro 2020 and the new Spatial Audio feature is mind bending. I like it. Very dynamic and makes for a much better entertainment experience. Looking forward to it for the AppleTV.

Big smile here. :D

Does anyone have any “surround” examples? Where, in your 5.1 setup, there’s sound coming from behind you? Just wondering if there’s ANY of that going on with these headphones.

Anyone having trouble getting auto-switching to work? I have all devices and hardware and software updated...but still nothing working the way I've seen in videos.
