Fair enough, it’s a pretty major change that should be in the title thoughIM guessing because last paragraph: " Today's update also appears to enable the feature that allows for automatic switching between devices, which is available for AirPods and AirPods Pro. Automatic switching will connect the AirPods to any Apple device signed associated with your iCloud when you activate audio on that device and are actively using it. "
With my experience, the beta seems to be more stable and it also seemed like Apple have some habitual way to mess up a public release. This is one way Apple can get more beta users by releasing an update that requires iOS 14.
Hope people are smart enough to backup their iPhones with encryption on their computers before installing.![]()
Anyone on iOS 14 able to verify?
Whenever I toggle Spatial Audio on, it says "This content isn't supported by spatial audio"
Also auto switching doesn't seem to work - unless I misunderstand the concept. I play media on my phone when the AirPods are connected to my laptop and nothing changes.
I thought spatial audio was supposed to simulate surround sound? Why would I want the sound to appear like it’s originating from the phone?

I followed someones advice on the forum: connect to iPhone as if using...place back in charger and leave charger case open for ~5mi....close case to recharge and about 5min. later they were updated. If only I could force update...been on the charger over an hour still nothing.
Are you using iOS 14 beta? Just wanted to know as I'm still on 13.Just tested it. It’s ok but the turning my head to get the effect but I’m really hoping for surround sounds simulation.

Maybe try this: remove AirPods from your iCloud, reset it, add to iPhone again and put on charger for a while.

No, spatial audio is exactly what you're describing. It's so its as if the audio source is coming from the actual device.
