I wasn’t getting the update until I performed a hard reboot of my iPhone. Once I did that, both pair of my AirPods Pros updated instantly.
I remember reading different things to try here, then I had to go to a meeting for 30 minutes or so and couldn’t try them. Got off the meeting, checked my phone and the AirPods Pro were updated. I do remember actually checking to see if they were updated, then made sure they showed as “connected” under Bluetooth, but I didn’t reboot, do anything with iCloud or anything else.

I updated my AirPods Pro, I have my iPad with latest beta 8, I do not have the “spatial audio” buttton on the drop down when I click on the volume for airpod options and I do not experience it when watching anything.

I wouldn’t be surprised. This latest beta seems consumer ready. Adding the last remaining announced feature (spatial audio) the day before an Apple event makes me think that this the version they’ll ship.
There could be a GM release, but it won’t be a public release because developers can’t submit final apps based on iOS 14 features yet.

I for one can’t get it to work. I’m running the latest iPadOS Public Beta and my AirPods Pro are on 3A283. Is there something I’m missing? The option to turn spatial audio on and off isn’t in my control center either. Do I need to have the developer beta?

“Works with AirPods Pro. Requires iPad Pro 12.9‑inch (3rd generation) and later, iPad Pro 11‑inch, iPad Air (3rd generation), iPad (6th generation) and later, or iPad mini (5th generation).”

Still no update. I’ve had them next to my iPad or iPhone for hours. Both plugged in. Do AirPods even update with an iPad? I imagine they would have to. Not everyone has an iPhone after all.

Still no update for me on either my AirPods 2 or AirPods Pro. It’s been about an hour.

Both are on the wireless charging pad. I’ve restarted my iPhone, which is on the current Apple Seed developer beta.

Edit: lmao, AirPods 2 got the update, not on the AirPods Pro yet.

I think this happened last time, where an update rolled out in different time segments where it wasn’t available to everyone right away, and I expect that’s what’s happening here. Not to mention, there’s probably so much ‘digital-traffic’ right now, I would just wait it out until tomorrow personally.

I have iOS 14 Beta 8 and just downloaded 3A283 firmware to my Airpod Pro's but how can I test the Spatial it says enabled but then says "this content does not support spatial audio" Thoughts please?

Have you tried watching something from Apple TV+? What device are you using?

That seems to be a bug...seems like anything supporting Dolby atmos works

That’s what I get for not “reading” the fine print. I been sitting here this whole time waiting for spatial audio to drop...only to find out now my iPad Pro 10.5 is not even supported.

The technology sounds cool, but can someone help me understand the point of this and why it's not just a gimmick? I mean why would I want to hear sound as if it were coming from my iPhone or iPad? Really tring to think why this would be better than a standard left-right full audio sound field, in fact once the initial wow wears off it sounds like it might be annoying.
