How do you check what firmware you have?

1. Launch the Settings app on your iOS device.
2. Tap General.
3. Tap About.
4. Tap ‌AirPods‌.
5. Check the numbers shown beside Firmware Version.

huh. I’m listening to my AirPods right now but I don’t have them listed in About...

Edit: Resetting them fixed it.

I have tried with 2 phones -firmware 12.4 and 13.1.3. The AirPod pros won’t update from 2B576

I tried placing in case connected to charger next to the phones which were plugged in as well for at 30min. In one case I left them over night

I reset the AirPod pros and re-paired them to phone and nothing after 30 min

I have reset them(although pressing the reset button for like 10-15 sec does not create an amber light then flashing white light. The case has to open while hitting reset button to get flashing white light that allows to re-pair. if I hit reset button and case open I go to pairing mode)

I seem to be permanently stuck on 2B576

Try from an iOS device with 13.2+. There were BT firmware and software protocol updates to the BT stack in 13.2.x. This could be the problem of why the APP aren't being updated from 2B576 to 2B588.

I will when I get a chance. So my main device is XS Max on 12.4. I was using the airpod pros. I checked firmware a little while ago. I have now 0B896. Lol

I googled around and saw nothing about that. Jeez. How weird

Perhaps, it did update and a problem with reporting under 12.4. Reboot the phone and check. Maybe try removing the APP and hard reset with the setup button. Pair again and check version number.

I am on 0B896 and noise canceling, transparency nothing works. Not able to upgrade. I hear that I may have gotten a fake one!

That would suck. You can ask here and see if there’s anything else:
