and im fully aware of custom ROMs. You can doubt it all you want. I'm most confident that this is the ICS we will see later this year with the Galaxy Nexus phones.

one issue i do have with it is that the center bottom icon, the grid icon, thats from LauncherPro lol. But yeah, it is totally possible that this is just some half-baked attempt of a custom ROM developer to try to make it a fusion between gingerbread/honeycomb.

Enjoy.

And yes... the center grid icon scream Gingerbread or Launcher Pro.
At least the one listed on XDA looks better.

a lot of changes in ICS are under the hood.

just because you see no discernible difference, doesn't make it a mediocre update.

This. Also as an iOS user, I don't think we can really throw up the "but it looks the same" as a negative comment about ICS...:p

I agree with aohus on everything he's said thus far.

As noted by Droid-Life, here are the noticeable differences over Gingerbread:

Lock screen lets you jump into the phone or straight to the camera – Apple kang, hah.
What is that Google Apps icon? A shortcut to all things Google.
Dock has 4 standard apps – will assume they are interchangeable.
Notification bar has a quick settings button – hoping for easy wifi/bluetooth toggles.
App drawer is horizontal just like Honeycomb.
Widget previews in there as well.
Long press on Home gives you recently used app menu from HC. Looks great on a phone.
Settings menu has been broken up into sections.
Pressing Menu at home only had 3 options, one being wallpaper.

And the reason why the version is "IceCreamSandwich" is that it's a developer version probably. Either Google isn't sure on a version number yet or knows and won't release it yet so they are using the name it's known as right now.

Seems pretty real and Google like. Looks nice, too.

Except that launcher looks nothing like the video. Nice try.

The launcher in the video is an updated version of "Ice Cream Sandwhich Launcher" which can be downloaded from the Android Market, the screenshots on the site are old.

I talked to a guy once that had that same animated home screen. He was mad because his battery ran out fast.

Go figure..

That's what you get when you want all that eye candy.

I wasn't commenting on looks was commenting on features.

iOS5 for example has
- new notification center
- wifi syncing
- iCloud for backups and syncing between devices
- imessage
- Assistant (?)

ICS has what new features? Not asking to be contrary but am really interested. So far in what I have seen in the ICS reports have been no real new features even hinted at. What cool new things will Android be able to do with ICS it cannot do now?

He was running android on a motorola phone.

It was also a major distraction.

Just your opinion. I personally think more customization than a wallpaper is cool and being able to have widgets is cool. I personally don't use many widgets except for a quick settings widget, a weather/clock widget, google search, and pandora and my battery is fine.

I presume Google tests features and doesn't just blindly throw in stuff. I'm sure they field test so they can perfect the battery life.

Although when it comes to just my iPod touch, I like it a lot. I do understand how Android can be too much though.

all those features you mentioned for iOS5, have been readily available on Android for some years now.

iOS5 is more of a catchup than anything else.

Android still needs to deliver on these aspects:

- a more unified UI experience for both phone and tablets
- hardware acceleration throughout Android OS
- deal with fragmentation so developers don't have to worry so much on developing for Android

I didn't ask if Android already had the iOS features (which they don't completely do anyway).

I asked what is ICS going to add to Android in the terms or features? What NEW things can be done with an Android phone with ICS that cannot be done with an Android phone without ICS?

ICS is supposed to address all three of these ...

... but, I haven't seen anything on completely new features.

If they fix the laggy scrolling, I'm willing to give it a spin comparing it to IOS 5.

When the EVO first came out, I tried it for a month, but returned it due to the laggy scrolling driving me batty!

Maybe more information will come out between now and release. I've been trying to find info on what new thigns it will do but so far have turned up blank. Still time before release.

Yeah, I understand that there haven't been any releases to developers yet. XDA has a lot of rumors, but nothing solid.
