1. I like the interface. Boom doesn't fit into the look and feel of OS X anymore, it's unnecessarily 'pretty', you can't even call it skeumorphism because it doesn't look like anything.
2. Are the button animations supposed to be that slow? Turning Sound Booster on and off in the App seems to cause lag in the animation.
3. Is it necessary to have the big gap between 'Turn Off Sound Booster' and 'Open Sound Booster' on the drop down menu from the menu bar?
4. What about adding the frequency figure to the equalizer bars in the app? At the moment they are just blank. But that kind of goes against my point 1. above.
5. How does the Individual App Volumes actually work? I tried dragging and dropping iTunes into there and nothing happened. There is no 'Help' from within the App and there probably should be.
6. To my ear Boom seems to be more aggressive in it's frequency alterations in the Equalizer. That's not necessarily a good thing, I haven't decided yet. Don't make any changes to this unless lots of other people feel the same way.
Over all though I am preferring Sound Booster over Boom.
1. Using Audio Switcher or the Sound Preferences within OS X I cannot change from the Sound Booster driver to the Internal Speakers on my iMac when Sound Booster is turned on. I have to turn it off first.
2. Volume control has locked and cannot be adjusted. It cannot be adjusted using the keyboard, speaker settings or Audio Switcher. I am presuming a reboot is necessary to regain control of my system volume.
EDIT: Crumbs, a reboot did not fix it! That means when Sound Booster is enabled on my system Volume adjustment is completely disabled until I turn it off. I'm afraid to say that makes it completely unusable on my iMac until this rather nasty bug is fixed. Please reply on this thread and quote my message when it's fixed because I won't be running it until then and I can try it again. Have you got some complete uninstall instructions? (Boom has this feature in the App where they direct you to a web page to download a script which fully removes the driver).
Not asking for a code, but would just like to mention to all those who did ask and received one:
Please use the free pass as a way to evaluate and (if you do like it) promote the app in some way. Developers spend a great deal of time and resources in creating these and deserve compensation for their work. In this case that would be a honest review by those receiving codes.
Also, you doing so helps the MacRumors community by encouraging other developers to also create promo code threads. I've seen so many threads where the code takers simply disappear-- let's be above that.
