Yes, that's what I meant.

I know it's a bonus for new Apple Card account holders who apply between December 26 and January 31. Taking a hit on your credit for lousy 2% bonus.... I'd save the hit for one of the $200 sign up bonuses from other credit cards unless you recently spent $10K or more with Apple.
A new CC can potentially get your score higher as you CC utilization goes down, it sure is a double edge sword and there is no one answer that fits everyone… and not worth arguing about.
But, if you’re planning to spend a few thousands with Apple, it might be worth it, for AirTags, probably not

t I have a dumb question. How do you use you Daily Cash back? I got my 3% back from my MBP. Too bad it wasn't this 5% back, but I'm not gonna sweat it. It is what it is.

What is an issue for me is that I have no idea how to use that 3% back that I did get. I figured that I would get an option to apply my credit when making a purchase, but I didn't see that option.

Transfer it to your bank, or use the Apple Cash card as payment method to pay that amount to the card?

That's what I usually do.

It’s really unfair to the apple card holders like myself who have been using this card almost exclusively. I will go back to Amex plat (at least I’ll get miles) and use apple card just to buy apple products.

I love and have been using my Apple Card as my everything credit card since I got it when they first came out. But I recently applied for another credit card that gives me 0% APR for 15 months on top of a $150 cash back bonus if I spend $500 or more within the first 90 days. This means I'm putting my Apple Card in to hibernation mode for the next 15 months.

I didn't know Target sold Macs.

I also didn't know the Red Card extended the warranty or offered accidental damage/theft protection like my AmEx card.
Fair point about Macs, however I made a point to not compare it to annual-fee credit cards like Amex. If you want to go there, then you can also get 5% cash back from Amazon using a Prime Card, in addition to frequent 10-20% off discounts off of MSRP.

Point is that you can often get most other Apple products for 5% off at Target in addition to promotions they frequently have. 5% cash back on a Mac at MSRP is far from the best deal you can get in most instances.

Still no word yet on bringing Apple Card to other countries like Germany. :(

Personally I think the problem we have in Europe is the cap on interchange fees. I don’t know what kind of cash back/reward offers you get on credit cards in Germany but if it’s anything like the UK (I know, I know!) the incentives are probably only minimal eg 0.5% cash back.

If/when Apple do ever extend it outside of the United States I can’t see them being overly generous without the possible route of annual fees…

Wording makes it sound like the 5% is only valid for new card holders on purchases made until 01/31/22. Is this the case or is the 5% permanent?

The daily cash rewards are added to the Apple Cash Card in the wallet. The amount available shown at top of card. Use the Apple Cash Card when paying. Can use both cards if the Apple Cash Card balance not enough. I use it for small quick purchases. Buy a coffee and roll example.

What does your AmEx card have to do with the Apple card? That's irrelevant. Point is, there are plenty of other cards that offer 5% back.

Atta way to reward loyal customers who have been using it for years. :p
Aren't the current rewards enough? Isn't that why you signed up? If they're not, then switch cards. CC offers come and go on all cards, that is the very nature of how they work to gain new accounts. You won't see me complaining when Chase Sapphire offers 100,000 point bonus when mine was only 60,000. That's how it goes.

Amex is currently offering 60,000 bonus points for signing up new accounts. That’s not fair either. It’s a cost of acquisition and it’s a very common practice.

LoL I only use my Apple Card to pay for apple services because there are no supplemental protections on product purchases.

I use my AMEX for products because I get SkyMiles, warranty extensions, damage protection.
I’ll probably get an Apple Card because it’s easy to track family spending and the Amex doesn’t work everywhere.

But I’ll continue to purchase apple product using my Amex. Amex fully covered an Apple Watch that ended up in 100 ft of water at the lake within 90 days of purchase.

I see some really mature attitude here.

Ah the power of entitlement.

How is it unfair? I mean when you signed up you knew what you were signing up to....

A better deal is always around the corner...
I'm not "entitled" to anything. I've worked (and continue to...) work my tail off for my life and 835 FICO. My point was for the VERY narrow yearly window Apple offers any promotional incentives in the year, that sharing them with their legacy cardholders would be appropriate .

Well, I wouldn't mind if they did it like Amazon on their credit card that offers cash back within the eco-system. So if Apple actually would offer a cash back for all purchases with Apple Card only to be spent in their own store, I would be fine with that.

I presume the problem lies with banking regulations that not only differ between territories but even within the EU. Still, I think it's kind of funny that we live in a time where everything is global, you can order a specific fruit hanging on a tree with a specific number around the world and have it delivered to your doorstep within two days – but you can't open a bank account in another country you are not a resident from. Same with streaming services etc. that you can't access if you're not in that country, or at least shouldn't.
We all live on the same world and the internet does not stop at borders. Companies and banks only cherry-pick what benefits them when it comes to globalization. One can only hope one day all these invisible boundaries will be torn down.
