If I may ask, have you experienced any issues doing that? Can you describe for me how you wash it? Thanks!
I wash it similar to how I would wash my hands, with just a drop of liquid non-aggressive soap. No issues apart from the charging constraint mentioned above.

Meanwhile ruggedization test labs with all of these capabilities in the US are hurting for business...

It would be so amazing if they made a fully waterproof iPhone that you could use in the shower or even swim in the ocean with.

The devices will still fail when subjected to the MacRumors forum, the harshest environment of all.
Well… if there was any new device I will gladly give my unbiased opinion about it 😊. But for now we can only get stories over how great the iPhone 17 will be and some vague possibilities over new products. It’s time for Timmy to deliver. Enough vagueness. Show me the goods Timmy and don’t be such a scapegoat on RAM.

What is that blue thing on the iPhone that the lady is holding up.
My guess is that the camera assemblies have a plastic film to protect the lens area during manufacturing, shipping of the cameras in bulk, and phone assembly. The film would remain until assembly of the phone is complete and would then be removed along with the white bumper case prior to packaging of the phone.

Considering when live feeding iPhones tend to crash when the temps are even mildly higher, I approve of this. I can't even record more than a few minutes in 4K without it stopping because of starting to overheat. I know many people who have jumped to Android because of this. The phones are fast, but now it's time to make them more reliable in extreme conditions.

I could be a plug to protect the camera hole of the iPhone chassis from some of the initial assembly processes, before the actual camera assembly is started.

I don’t know. That’s just a guess.

It's a thin piece of plastic, covering the new lens. The iPhone adhesives are on similar sheets of plastic, some are magenta instead of blue.

Apple loves to boast about how their devices have saved lives, but what good is that if they can’t function in the cold?

It’s almost laughable how they seem to ignore the fact that some of us live in places with real winters and not in a sunny California. When it gets below -10°C, iPhones are practically getting ready to take a nap here. So if Apple wants to truly make a life-saving device, they should start by ensuring it works in the cold too and focus less on making it more water resistant etc.

Just make them repairable and stop with this bs about ooh, wemake them to last when clearly SSD and batteries are wear parts.

Labs? They should test them OUTSIDE.

Like leave an iphone in a stopped car at -10 C for half an hour. It should still start.

Then use a laptop for a month on balconies, decks etc where there's dust. The keyboard should still work or at least be cleanable.

What a waste of money. All Apple has to do is give any device to be tested to a group of American 2-4 year olds. They will throw it, eat it, stomp it, flush it, put food on it, beat each other with it, throw it out of an open window in a moving car, and so many many horrible things. Why Apple, why didn't you give it to... The Children?

Not even sure that is an iPhone. That whole Apple graphic seems “off” and the word “iPhone” doesn’t even appear on the back of iPhones anymore. Maybe a prototype device?
