New Apple Magsafe charging puck - What's New?

Can anyone with a USB-C meter, new MagSafe puck and iPhone 16 test to see if the 25W charging rate happens via 9V/3A, or with 15V/2A?

I'd test this myself, but my iPhone 16 Pro was lost by UPS and my replacement is taking forever

I think this has taken manufacturers of MagSafe stands that use the apple MagSafe charger by surprise with it being a different size. The FAQ on Twelve South Forté says it fits but it certainly doesn’t. I’ve dropped them a message.

Fits but the pug will come out as you remove phone from the stand

I emailed Twelve South support and they claim it will fit but the old one may have stretched it out if it doesn’t. The offered to send me a new one for free. They have already sent shipping confirmation.

Don’t know if I got lucky or what.

They do claim that it’s compatible on their website, but I don’t understand how they can do that when the two pucks are different sizes

If you have access to a 3D printer, this is a great option. Recently updated for the new dimensions.

Exactly this! I would happily buy another to fit the new MagSafe but the company appears to be misleading customers.

I guess their thought is the new unstretched rubber will fit both sizes

New 12 South and new puck seem to work fine. Doesn’t pull out of the rubber when I pull the phone off.

Yeah and it’s the same with the UGreen. As I reported in another post, it’s a very snug fit with the new MagSafe puck.

To be fair to Twelve South have just requested I contact the tech support to consider swapping the Forte. Will keep you posted. They replied to my review not my email - hmmm.

Always get concerned with faster charging generating more heat and killing the battery lifespan.

Definitely a possibility. FWIW, the apple ones tend to produce noticeably less heat than 3rd party MagSafe chargers. The qi2 ones can get quite toasty. Quite a few YouTube videos showing this with infrared cameras but I noticed it with my own chargers with an infrared thermometer.

Well within 24 hours TwelveSouth have contacted me and will replace the Forte under warranty. Not had customer service like this for a while. Will be interesting to see if it fits the new Apple MagSafe puck. Will report back.

The new holder arrived today and incredibly it fits the MagSafe puck from Apple. Huge respect to TwelveSouth and I maybe learned a lesson.
