The Apple iPencil is overdue for an upgrade. Tim Cook is just like a snail and horrible in accelerating the development progress of Apple Products.

Why is it due for an upgrade? It seems people like it like it is. What’s the point in accelerating the development progress of apple products if people are buying the current ones hand over fist?

It has more of a design than the first generation Apple Pencil but I don’t really see the point of making a new Apple Pencil. If a new iPad Pro comes out this year, this Apple Pencil will probably be compatible with the new iPad Pro.

Hmmm so is this going to be the only pencil compatible with the new pros coming this year? I wanted to get one but now I’m not sure considering I got the gen 2 pencil this past summer as a birthday present...

Nobody knows. Seems likely than the gen 2 would keep working with the new pros, though, unless they did something like change the magnetic charging, which seems unlikely.

I’m hoping not much changes in that regard so gen 2 and 3 will work with the new pros, but we shall see when the time comes.

The current system is just about perfect so I doubt they will change anything that fundamental. Long term you can imagine things like touch controls (other than the tap), using the back end as a separate tool (eraser), different tips for different purposes (brushes, etc), higher resolution/refresh, etc. But the magnet/charge system they’ve pretty much nailed.

I like the matte finish better as well.
I would guess the longer tip applies less strain on the internal structure.

Form over function, as usual. They might as well put that Clark Griswold super slippery coating on it too so it will squirt out of your hands like a wet bar of soap.

Why would the tip of an Apple Pencil wear out -- isn't it purely an electronic interface with the iPad? (Serious question, I don't have an AP.)

Unless the iPad Pro’s new micro LED display technically requires a new stylus to work, this is just another way to increase revenues.

Almost no one has any major issues with the current Pencil 2.

Glossy to help mitigate the friction issue which is scratching iPad when docked?

How about bringing back the ability to charge it from a wall plug, rather than having to attach it magnetically to the iPad itself? I have to partially remove my iPad case anytime I want to charge the thing; it gets annoying pretty quickly.

I would like to see an area where you hold it to have a texture of some sort for better grip.
Another reason why I want it to be able to charge from a cable. I keep a small rubber/foam grip, meant for actual pencils, around the base of my Apple Pencil to make it more comfortable to work with for longer periods of time. I have to take it off anytime I want to charge it.
