New Apple Products Filed in Regulatory Database, Likely Including New iPhone SE and iPad Air

I'm worried that they will match the colors of the current Mini, in which case there will be no colors that interest me. I'm fine with my 4th gen blue Air for a while though so...

Yeah, the color choices for the mini are a bit limited. I’d been hoping for the same colors the air came in.
I do like the purple for the mini, though.

I wonder if there is a SKU for Color, Wifi, Cellular, and Storage. They are reporting 9 SKU numbers, so I don't know what to expect.

9 iPad Air versions?
Considering the last iPad Pro reported to have had 9 versions listed last year according to this report…

In that article above it has 9 model number identifiers:

A2377 - iPad Pro 11” WiFi only
A2378 - iPad Pro 12.9” WiFi only
A2567 - iPad mini 6 WiFi only
A2588 - No product
A2602 - iPad 9 WiFi only
A2568 - iPad mini 6 Cellular
A2569 - iPad mini 6 Cellular (China)
A2589 - No product
A2604 - iPad 9 Cellular

Bearing in mind these were registered in April 2021 and the mini 6 and iPad 9 were never announced until September…

So these 9 new listings could quite easily be a combination of iPad Air, iPad 10 and iPad Pro models but doesn’t mean any are coming anytime soon.

What’s also interesting the two model numbers A2588 and A2589 appeared in listings last April, and have now been listed again… so whatever product they are being allocated to might have been delayed from last year…

I think that is it! This not for iPad Air, it is for iPad Pro 11, because there are 9 SKUs for the pro. If they are adding XDR to the iPad Pro 11, that is what I will get. I hope they don't increase it to $899 and leave it to $799. Imagine, you can get an XDR screen for under a thousand dollars...

If they only announce iPad Pro 11 spec bump and iPhone SE 3, this is not for an event. This will just be a store updated announcement.

I was going to buy the 12.9 inch ipad pro last yr but when I Heard about the blooming issue I didnt get it..so whatever they release this year I hope it fixes that
Blooming will always be present on any LCD display, standard LCD is an all over bloom hence why blacks look grey.

It comes part and parcel with LCD tech and it’s one of its draw backs, Apple may possibly find a way of reducing it in future iterations but unfortunately every miniLED product will always have some form of blooming in certain conditions.

No it doesn’t necessarily mean an iPad Pro is coming because there are 9 SKU’s…

As per my previous post (now updated) when SKU’s were registered back in April last year they were…

A2377 - iPad Pro 11” WiFi only
A2378 - iPad Pro 12.9” WiFi only
A2567 - iPad mini 6 WiFi only
A2588 - No product
A2602 - iPad 9 WiFi only
A2568 - iPad mini 6 Cellular
A2569 - iPad mini 6 Cellular (China)
A2589 - No product
A2604 - iPad 9 Cellular

Yet the mini 6 and iPad 9 didn’t get announced until September…

The SKU’s could be a combination of the Air, Pro and Standard iPad lines, some will be allocated in Spring while others won’t get allocated until later this year.

This early on the only iPad Pro I expect to launch in Spring would be a minor refresh to the 11” giving it miniLED… if that does happen, I don’t expect the M2 Pros to come along until Spring 2023 as they won’t launch the M2 chip in an iPad, it will come alongside the MacBook Air which isn’t rumoured to launch until late 2022.

iPad Air doesn't need to exist. Change my mind.
Basically it’s an 11” screen, 256Gb of storage is enough for me, has Touch ID, and an LED screen that’s not mini, it’s cheaper than the Pros. I love mine & would hate the mini LEDs in the Pros because I use black mode and Pros are a blooming mess. I use mine for all my web browsing including this site typing onscreen. I research things that interest me, use the books or kindle app in landscape (2 pages on each screen) to read science fiction novels, buy stuff, pay bills, check the weather. I’m getting on in years an I need large type so the larger screen is needed & the price is right. It’s light enough to hold in one hand. I use this device more than any other in my home, it’s perfect for me. I’d be super pissed off at Apple if I’d been forced into buying an iPad Pro. At night the speakers are great for my white noise app that I sleep to, to shush the busy street and train noise. I could go on, but if you don’t think this product should exist, neither I nor Apple agree with you.

Likely explanation but also completely reduces the value of the database for productions. A 15 inch iPP would be nice now that 12.9 is mainstream.

Dont worry SFjohn, if anything is going to be axed by Apple it would be the iPad Pro 11" over the Air (not that I want to see that ever happen though). The Air sells considerably more units and appeals to far more people.

Looking at previous gen Airs allocated product numbers, they generally have 4 for each model…

1st - WiFi only
2nd - Cellular US
3rd - Cellular Global
4th - Cellular China

So with there being 9 registered that suggest two models of iPad have been registered in the database…

I think what is going to happen is either:

Possible, but very unlikely…
We are getting two sizes of the Air line.

Possible, quite likely…
They are going to refresh the Air and at the same time give the 11” Pro a minor update with miniLED, which would mean the major iPad Pro refresh rumoured might not actually happen until early 2023.

Possible, very likely…
Four of the numbers are for the upcoming Air whilst four of the remaining five are for one of the iPad Pro models coming later this year (probably in the fall).

I hate this, because you can buy whatever iPad comes out this spring, then in fall they come out with another. I need to just buy what I need now, and not worry that I don't have the latest and greatest. Right:oops:

Yes 100% the only product anyone can advise not to buy after April/May each year is the iPhone or Apple Watch as these are pretty much guaranteed in September.

All the other products can literally land at any time, at the end of the day, if you buy something today and in 6 months something comes along which is a major improvement you can always sell and buy the latest if you really need to.

Yeah, you are right, but you see my face. I am not sure, because I bought the iPad Pro 12.9 2018 in December 2019 and then they updated the pros in spring and the airs in fall. I was still paying for the iPad and could have gotten a better iPad for less if I waited just a few months. I don't know. I guess it is like buying an iPhone in August, when clearly there will be something better the following month.
