Yeah, I was in Portland a few months ago and had never seen an Apple store wrapped in a chain link fence with two security guards that stood next to the gate entrance. Felt very strange to say the least. The one downtown is a fortress.
Looks like something from The Running Man (1987)Yeah, I was in Portland a few months ago and had never seen an Apple store wrapped in a chain link fence with two security guards that stood next to the gate entrance. Felt very strange to say the least.
Take a trip to east Portland, it's most definitely not in a 4-6 block radius.View attachment 2111701
This one's way out in the burbs (Tigard) and as suburbia as you get.
Despite what you might hear in the news, most of the shenanigans in Portland was relegated to a 4-6 block radius around the Federal building downtown only ...
Do you understand why it looks that way and what would be needed to fix it? Do you understand that sometimes it's intentional?I have to admit.. that photo is kinda messed up. Look at the door on the very right... all the angles are wrong. Can't people take normal photos these days? 🤣
given this isn't really in "Portland" but an effluent suburb, I'd say never.
That's (not surprisingly) what the "benches" in front are for- To prevent smash and grabs.Add some higher bollards in front and you could tell me that building was meant for a warzone and I'd believe it.
Lotta people in these comments who've "read" about Portland & Seattle but have certainly never visited.
Seriously. It’s fine with me though. I like the PNW the way it is.Lotta people in these comments who've "read" about Portland & Seattle but have certainly never visited.
That was the downtown Pioneer Square Apple Store that was firebombed by BLM/Antifa. I was there about two weeks ago and there’s a ton of scaffolding still in front of the store even after all this time due to that damage. I lived in the Portland suburbs for over 20 years and have been to the Bridgeport Apple Store quite often, the old one. I live about 75 miles south of Portland now, but go up there frequently, sometimes as often as once a week. How long before the natives break the windows and set it on fire?
I go to Portland all the time. I have season tickets to the Keller Auditorium for their Portland Broadway series, which is only a few blocks from the Courthouse. I was at the Pioneer Square Apple Store just a couple weeks ago getting my son an iPhone to replace the one he broke, right after I saw a show, To Kill a Mockingbird, at the Keller. The show starred Richard Thomas, the actor who portrayed John Boy on the old Waltons show. The next show is in two weeks, the Jagged Little Pill.Lotta people in these comments who've "read" about Portland & Seattle but have certainly never visited.
Same, my last work trip she a bright light on reality. Its as bad is you think and seeI hope they have a big 24x7 police presence and good locks on all the doors. I used to spend a lot of time in Portland and Seattle on business. I won't be going back, largely due to the worsening crime and grime in those two cities.
