I used to go to portland 1-2x a year (stopped due to pandemic) and my (or my partners) iphone was always a purchase up there. Wed always go to the one in Pioneer Square. That no sales tax is huge for purchases like this.No sales tax.

They likely used an iPhone. So no, no normal photos allowed.I have to admit.. that photo is kinda messed up. Look at the door on the very right... all the angles are wrong. Can't people take normal photos these days? 🤣
I registered just to say this is a hilarious and underrated comment. (Shout out to Durham.)I'm still amused as heck that Tigard claims this now. Back when the land it's on now was still an old quarry surrounded by trailer parks everyone was like, oh that place? That's in DURHAM. Not Tigard.
There is a row of diagonal parking spaces directly in front of the store (it is in the middle of a strip of stores and restaurants). There are spaces reserved for 5 minute pickups. That's (not surprisingly) what the "benches" in front are for- To prevent smash and grabs.
They did that here…..Barnes and Noble was unscathed. How long before the natives break the windows and set it on fire?
No it isn’t. I live with someone who just moved away from Vancouver. Another friend left Seattle for Utah. They choose bad policies so if they love it, let them live in it. Enjoy. The Pacific Northwest always ranks high in the quality of life indexes every year. If y’all are that afraid of Seattle and Portland, we won’t miss you! Much of the conflict in PDX goes waaaaay back, to when the Klan ran the city government. It’s a great place to live, with all its faults.
Exactly. Media hypeView attachment 2111701
This one's way out in the burbs (Tigard) and as suburbia as you get.
Despite what you might hear in the news, most of the shenanigans in Portland was relegated to a 4-6 block radius around the Federal building downtown only ...
N.c is much nice lol😂I hope they have a big 24x7 police presence and good locks on all the doors. I used to spend a lot of time in Portland and Seattle on business. I won't be going back, largely due to the worsening crime and grime in those two cities.

Who is the the idiot that thought it was a good idea to build a new Apple store in Portland of all places?!? That is like building a daycare center across the street from a halfway house filled with convicted pedophiles. I would not be shocked if the store has to close in a month or two after being robbed dozens of times.
The one downtown is a fortress.
This replaces a store already there. It’s not an additional store. Omitting this key detail is misleading.
Apple will be opening a new store at Bridgeport Village in the Portland, Oregon area this Saturday, November 12 at 10 a.m. local time, as noted by retail enthusiast and creative Michael Steeber. The store is located at 7273 SW Bridgeport Road, a short distance away from Apple's previous location in the outdoor shopping center.
The new store is larger and features Apple's latest retail design, including a dedicated pickup area for orders placed on Apple's online store. According to Steeber, the store has a quartz and glass facade, along with four stone benches on the sidewalk out front that double as seats and barriers to prevent vehicles from smashing into the glass.
Like other locations, the store will offer free Today at Apple creative sessions and Genius Bar appointments for hardware repairs.
Apple operates over 520 retail stores around the world, including three in the Portland area.

The reason the scaffolding is still there isn't because of lasting damage... it's because the city has done an awful job at handling the local homeless population, and a big glass box filled with valuable electronics is an extremely tempting target for homeless meth-head addicts. Hopefully the new city government and other measures that voters just passed will help deal with that problem. That was the downtown Pioneer Square Apple Store that was firebombed by BLM/Antifa. I was there about two weeks ago and there’s a ton of scaffolding still in front of the store even after all this time due to that damage.
Violent crime rates are significantly lower than the national average, but property crime rates are significantly higher. Ignore anyone talking about riots or BLM or antifa or whatever, none of that has been relevant for years... the actual problem is the growing homeless population, from a mix of drug addiction (mostly meth), excessive housing prices, and homeless people hitching rides into Portland out of the (mostly true) perception that the city will go easy on them.I'm not from the USA, but is Portland known for it's high crime rate?
With that said, all of that is totally irrelevant to the actual store from the article, which is out in the suburbs (not Portland), only accessible by car, and in a shopping center that has a crime rate of approximately zero (barring impulse shoplifting) during open hours. The defensive architecture there is just the same kind of generic measure against midnight smash-and-grab robberies that you'd see anywhere with the same bollard design.
