Glad its being fixed. Sadly we have the free SD Netflix with T-mobile and my partner doesn't want to spend the extra money for the HD/UHD version. I do have prime and HBO Max. Only thing that needs to be fixed now is on Google to allow HDR with their YouTube app.

This is good news about the fix said to be available within the 2nd 14.7 beta release . . . can anyone who has actually installed that 2nd beta release real-world-confirm that the erroneous 'HD' badging is fixed, AND that 4K streaming is actually occurring now?

Yes. Yes. and Yes. For the record, 4K has always been streaming (I've confirmed this numerous times via the Dev HUD and posted no shortage of screencaps) so the only actual error is the labeling, which has been fixed in the latest dev beta.

I have never seen anyone post a screenshot with the Dev HUD showing something that should have been 4K content streaming at 2K. Everyone who reported that they were getting 2K were relying on the "HD" label on the swipe-down Info section, or "it looks like HD to my eyes", which...look I'm sure they think they can tell 2K vs 4K visually, but I'll trust what my Dev HUD tells me it's reading from the actual data stream.

I can't get HDR/Dolby vision to work in HBO Max. I tried Wonder Woman 1984 and it does not show the Dolby Vision banner on my LG OLED. Netflix does work fine.

Update. Looks like the new update broke stuff:
