Apple care more about selling as much hardware ASAP... than having perfect software. They know damn well that their software isn't perfect at launch. They make it just usable enough to not cause widespread outrage and then put out a 0.1 update, that is always far more stable.

how do you sell more hardware if you don't have good software?
is their software perfect? no. polished and better than other? definitely. Apple is big today for a reason.

And I just happen to think that's a terrible way to run a business. My logic is simple, you just don't agree with the premise. I would rather have no product than to have one that cuts corners or removes functionality which could be finished but instead is omitted due to lack of thorough brainstorming for a more intuitive approach. If that "intuition" happens to become incorporated into the product over time then I consider that an insult to any buyers of the product. Hardware is one thing, software updates are another.

You are in the vast minority. In real life, businesses go by the mantra, it's better to ship a great product today than an even better product next week.

By your logic, car makers shouldn't sell a 2015 car because the 2016 will be better. But they shouldn't sell a 2016 because the 2017 could be even better. But it'd be stupid to sell the 2017 because 2018 model will be even better than that.

In your world no one would ever ship a product because the prospect of making it better with a wait would prevent ever being released.

Are Bluetooth keyboard and iOS Remote support back in 9.1?

The iOS Remote app will have to be updated for the new hardware. An OS update to the Apple TV itself won't cause this old version to function with the new OS and hardware. An update is in the works.

Apple has frequently shipped products with a small essential feature set and then added over time. Actually that's good because they don't try to do too much in one step. IMHO what is missing is some kind of a roadmap to let people know what's in the pipeline, think e.g. of the Final Cut Pro X "disaster".

Where did you hear that an update was in the works? I read on reddit that some guy got told by an Apple representative that Remote App support wasn't coming to ATV 4.

Will no one ever be happy until every apple product has $x+1 features on the day it ships?

These things get software updates, people! They will be improved, and gain features, for a few years after you buy it. You bought it WITHOUT being able to Siri for your apple music, but, lo, they're throwing that in for free, along with an unknown number of new features in the years to come.

If you wanted Apple to ship an Apple TV with Siri Music support, then buy it two months after everyone else, and pretend they never released tvOS 9.0.

I don't see what's so hard about creating differentiation between product versions. When creating a new version, make sure you have something the differentiates the new model, from the old model. No doubt a great product can be an exception, but when one doesn't consider the product to be great, the slope gets slippery quickly, considering it's missing out on many key features that necessitates it to being great in the first place.

I don't think cars have the same principle. They essentially do have the exact same product every year (every 3-5 years they'll do a design refresh [where they modify the headlights and taillights slightly], but aside from that it will be the same product for 7-10 years), but they aren't really selling it as being much better than the previous model - because they discontinue the old models every year, so they have no need to differentiate. Plus there is the difference between software updates vs hardware. Cars don't really offer software updates as incremental changes, as ATV is going to do. With cars, as I mentioned, they do full-body design updates, engine updates, and new software (dash, etc) all in the same year, then make minor changes for the next 3-10 years after that.
