While I don't mount mine to the back of a TV, I know a few people that do. Certainly not worthy of an upgrade for people with the latest generation ATV, but good nonetheless.

Useful for those who mount it behind their screens, however I like the fact my 2021 Apple TV is a bit hefty.
Makes it feel more premium and substantial.

Yeah, whatever I have I need to velcro to the back of my wall-mounted TV and the existing Apple 4K was way too thick. I could have gotten the old 1080p one but a Roku 4K stick seemed better at the time.

I'm getting one of these!

Is there any use buying this if you:

A) Already have an Apple TV HD? and;
B) Don’t have a 4k TV (but have plans to get one eventually)?

I only use it to watch shows on Netflix or Amazon Prime. I don’t play music on it much, nor do I game on it. I think that’s because I know that trying to do so will be painful given the old A8 (?) chip in it. If I had more performance behind it I might be tempted to do more with it.

from a gaming perspective, A15 is no slouch. As a Samsung TV owner, I’m glad to see HDR 10+ in this update. However this will require content providers to actually ship content with HDR 10+.

To date , I think Amazon is the only major streaming service offering HDR10+ on some content….. does this mean that Apple TV+ will start streaming also in both Dolby Vis ion AND HDR10+ ???

Hope so!

HDR10+ is the very definition of an also ran. There area handful of 4K discs with it, and I think Amazon verified briefly tried it a few years back. But that's it. Dolby won the battle a long time ago.

Never knew the old one had a fan. Thank god it's thinner again - the length to height ratio of the last ones made it quite ugly compared to their predecessors, imho.
