That .2 inches of height reduction is going to be HUGE advantage sitting on my entertainment rack.

And now I can take out the reinforcements since the Apple TV won't break my entertainment rack due to the massive weight of it.

WTF???

I see why they press released the products today. Even Apple didn't have the courage to do an event for this crap.

I'll probably pick one up since my 18 month old second gen 4K has been shutting down randomly after falling off the back of my TV

Had no idea the previous ones had fans at all. Seems like it could have used just a big heat sink and passively cooled them, seeing is they are just iPhone chips which are also passively cooled..
You don't typically stream 4K video for hours on end on your iPhone. The SOC cools down between spikes of high utilization, and if it is used for too long a period, you get an overheating warning.

Wonder if the new model will finally be able to view large libraries in Apple TV app. My guess is Apple cheaped out on memory yet again and it’s best customers of media are still screwed.
If the A15 uses 4GB Ram rather than 3GB like the A12 Bionic, then maybe your library will show more listed.

Not sure if this A15 is the 4 core or 5 core GPU SOC being used, either way its graphics should be faster.

HDR10+, faster and more efficient chip, smaller design, remote has usb-c.
Decent upgrade if you missed the memo

Does HDR10+ require new hardware or is it a software only update? Will the current models quietly get it soon.

Smaller means crap - more efficient means crap unless I see it on the screen - I don't even use the Apple remote

So I am not seeing "decent upgrade" more like "barely an upgrade"

Do we know what HDMI version this supports? Hopefully 2.1 ?
Has Dolby Vision support been omitted?

…And both of those have 4GB onboard memory, right? Or would it have been worth their while to engineer a 3GB version? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
