Fact: This is another empty "upgrade" to an Apple product that will bring in tons of revenue. Additionally, no one games on an Apple TV. Unless, of course, you are 11 years old.
My children are 8 and 10 and they love gaming on it. And all those 7 year olds will soon be 8 year olds and ready to game! It’s a great platform for kids.

We always go with the lowest storage model, but our next AppleTV has to be the higher storage model because we need the ethernet.

Our current Apple TV storage has 0.5 GB worth of apps in it.

Given I hear terms like 'Matter', and 'Thread', I think we need more clarification of what the two variants of the Apple TV offer with this version.

The 64GB version allegedly does not provide Thread, or Matter support, but I'm uncertain what that means. I'm presuming if I'm out of the house, I might not be able to control things like lights or cameras that use Matter.

I kind of understand the ethernet port occlusion from the 64GB version. Most likely can stream majority of content without use of an ethernet jack.

For more widespread adoption of Matter, I don't know why it's being relegated to the 128GB version.

I’m on the fence if I need the thread support the more expensive one has. What are the true reasons I’d need that

Edit- just saw the article above

Yes that’s cool but the new one wouldn’t improve any game the older 4k one is fine
For sure. I was waiting for the new one to upgrade the old Roku boxes so I get more life out of it. Worth the wait, and I’ll get a couple.

I am in Paris and I haven’t received update about my preorder.
It’s not available in any stores in Paris.

You don’t notice anything scrolling and moving around the ui it isn’t needed it’s only because they have loads of a15 left over
Again, disagree about speed. Launching apps and loading content will likely be faster and smoother than before. and by an even bigger margin than A10X to A12 was.

And if you do game, this is a big jump as well.

They probably do have a lot of A15 since they’ve reduced orders on 14 Max, and Pro model is selling very well. ATV is the perfect place to put them. They definitely aren’t making A12’s anymore. Now they can dedicate that capacity to current chips.

Why would you need an Apple TV if you are in Paris? The people in Pink Oklahoma, they need an Apple TV.

Actually, I don't think Pink has cell phone service yet. It may be a few years before they get real internet. I drove by Pink on a road trip once. They have a sign that says, "Welcome to Pink" on both sides.

No one is saying the older 4k Apple TV is to slow to open an app

No one is saying the M1 is slow. But the M2 is faster. I have 2 Apple TV HD, a 1st Gen 4K, a 2nd Gen 4K, and at some point today, 2 3rd Gen 4K. Use them everyday. And the newer models are faster than the model that precedes them. And the same will be true for this. That doesn’t have anything to do with people saying or not saying that the old one is slow. But the new will be faster.

"Thinner and lighter design: Apple says the A15 Bionic chip's increased power efficiency allowed for the internal fan to be removed in the new Apple TV, resulting in the device having a more compact design that is around 12% thinner and around 50% lighter than the previous model."

Why does this matter? It's a box that sits on the counter.

Why not keep the extra space (and even the fan) for cooling?

Faster is always better. I overclocked my Apple Watch. Now I have 26 hours in a day!

Because, it would cost Apple more money to use the old hotter power wasting chips.

I get upgrading the internals, that is a very good thing. But why change the box? Are we back to the "thinner is always better" version of Apple?
