The next-generation Apple TV 4K will ship with an upgraded Siri Remote, according to macOS 26.7 code findings.

The code does not reveal any specific changes planned for the remote, but it suggests that a new Apple TV is finally coming soon, following years of rumors. The new model, expected to be powered by an A17 Pro chip or newer, will likely be unveiled this September or October.

Well, just recently I bought a 2022 version for my smart home and I guess that‘s the perfect timing for Apple to release a new version…

Fair game; I found a good deal and with current RAMageddon going on, I doubt the next gen AppleTV will be very affordable, despite previous rumors of lower pricing…

oh I hope they don't go back to glass touch or solid state buttons its fine the way it is.
You know, you say that, but after the power button popped off of my Apple TV remote and it’s still so easy for dust and gunk to get underneath the buttons, I would so love an Apple TV remote that’s just like the current one, except it’s all haptic feedback instead of actual buttons being pushed.

What does Siri bring to Apple TV? Honest question, is it simply a navigation thing so you can say play a show and it does? Feels like that would be more clunky than quickly navigating to what you want to watch. Is there something more to Siri on the TV?

If anything I think they should expand continuity so your iPhone is the hub that brings it all together. "Siri play show X" my iPhone Siri hears and tells the Apple TV what to do Not individual remotes for everything. "Siri play Head and the Heart on my MacBook Pro" and away it goes even if I am in another room but have my iPhone.

Good if a new Apple Tv is coming soon. However not expecting much to change. Even the remote, wonder what could actually change.

Given that all I want is a reliable streaming box with good video and audio quality, and no spying or advertising, I’m not sure whatever the next AppleTV offers will even be desirable - at least to me. I don’t need AI making suggestions or helping me find things. And I don’t need voice control. I have three TVs and two AppleTV boxes. Maybe I should pick up another current-gen model before the new one comes out.

It already does this, though? If I tell my phone to “play thing in the living room” it automatically starts an airplay session with the Apple TV in the living room. Or at least it does when Siri is playing nice.

I'd just wait and grab preowned "old" ones when new ones are out.

I echo your thoughts about how desirable the new one may even be.

I don't want or need my TV box to be an "AI box", nor to make it any more of a portal just for AppleTV Services than it already is. It feels like they may pin an immovable AppleTV icon on the homepage at some point with how it's going.

Then what is the point of Siri on the remote? Genuinely not sure what the gain is by having a voice assistant on Apple TV, and even less sure if you are saying you can use Siri on the iPhone to interact with the TV.

Hopefully more reliable.
Family have had two current gen Siri remote power buttons pop off now.

I still use and prefer the OG's with trackpads in a case.
Yep .. this one 👇 I love them! 😀

This one I have with my current Apple TV HD (will replace whatever new one release). I have seen so many hate over that remote and praise for next generation remote. First time I ever seen anyone praise original remote and prefer it over newer generation.

I don’t see any issues or problems with original and works perfectly for me and I never used newer ones so can’t comment how it is.

I love the OG shape and feel in hand, particularly in that case that adds magnets on the back, adds grippy comfy feel and protects it from drops.

The smooth large trackpad is so pleasant to use and the buttons are all close and easy to reach. The siri button on the side, I really dislike on newer remotes.

Also, the buttons feel better to me, and are dead silent when clicking them.

I just find the OG Siri remote to be a more polished design.

I do miss a mute button, I will admit.

I'd love to move to the apple tv full time, but since I still use directv streaming, the remote just isn't very useful in some ways. I guess that's more of a generational thing.

That's terrible, we have 5 and they are all heavily used none have had buttons pop off.

I noticed the same I may try one of the ones with built in keyboard/numberpad you can find on Amazon. Id also like to be able to pair more the one (Apple) remote to an AppleTV so I don't have to share with my partner.

I’ve been waiting so long for a new AppleTV, holding off until the new model comes out. You KNOW that as soon as I get this one, they will announce a new one in 6 months making mine the “old version” again.
