Regarding Microsoft Access, it's the one part of the Office Suite that would still leave me with a reliance on Windows, at least for now.
I'd make do with Parallels or Boot Camp, though. 🙂

I was talking to my dad about the casting of mitchell and webb at the weekend saying how the mac comes of as smug, the thing is the adverts havn't backfired, it hink people just think they have because they are quite pioneering in terms of UK TV advertising, in so far as the aforementioned competition naming.

It hasn't damaged the actors at all, if anything it has raised thier profile, more people are watching thier show (peep show) this series than before.

They're clever. They've just started showing the new series of Peep Show on Channel 4 and Mitchell and Webb have a new feature film coming out soon. Good advertising for them. I liked peep show before the Mac adverts but I'm now much more interested in Mitchell and Webb's work than before... Plus I found out that Webb(The Mac)'s Dad is my Great Grandma's Gardener 😛 Currently only being a wannabe Mac-owner (I'm stuck with a crappy PC until I can afford £2k for the 24" iMac I want), I might try and get my Grt. Grandma to get Webb's Dad to get Webb to get me a free Mac... 😉 Pfft. As if I could, lol.

They were picked with the peep show charectors in mind almost, the laid back 'cool' one and the stuffy one, its completly deliberate that the mac comes of as smug, its purposly smug to replicate mac owners!

Yep. If you saw the guy who plays the PC (Mitchell) on Peep Show on Friday, he was at a strip club. He was like "Just look like you're familiar with female flesh" to himself (Peep Show is a programme where that is done so that you "see" through the various actor's eyes. You also hear what they think, too. Good show)
They 100% had Peep Show on their minds when they casted Mitchell and Webb.
Mitchell's character is a boring, stuck up social retard who wants to succeed at work. Webb's character is a unemployed layabout who wants to make music.
They fit perfectly.

I, personally, prefer Mitchell and Webb to the U.S. Mac and PC.

With everyone bitching about the UK ads and how horribly offended the Brits are, does anyone have any concrete figures that shows these ads have had any effect, positive or negative?

were are all these negative posts about the uk ad's, how can we brits be offended by these ads when we have this sense of humour on our TV.

Not sure why everyone is saying the Brits dont like them. The only 'evidence' to suggest this is a flimsy brand survey.

From the reactions I have seen from people, it has heightened awareness of Macs significantly and amused at the same time.

the mac guy is a bit pretentious. my only thought is that mac os does not compare to windows. That is like comparing president Bush to someone with a brain it cannot be done. windows is rubbish.

I really get the impression you wanted to tell us that, what with it being your location too...🙄
