OK. You are entitled to your opinion. Obviously I disagree.

Leather bands dry up and crack, especially at the buckle crease. It's true. It's why I have to replace mine... even the vastly more expensive Baume Mercier bands. The more one perspires the quicker this process occurs. It has zero to do with quality. Even a Rolex OEM would do that if it's real leather.

With all this my original point has been lost, and that is $250 for a leather band is overpriced. Period. It's a tiny strip of leather. Leather is not a scarce resource, especially the leather used for watch bands which has to be tougher to withstand the daily bending. The most expensive leather is very thin, soft, and supple and could not tolerate the conditions a band undertakes.

Take a look at an high end leather jacket. It's very thin an fragile compared to a run-of-the mill brands which is typically thick and durable. Same goes with car seats. The entry level "dakota" and "nevada" leather seats on a BMW for example, is very stiff vs. the high end "nappa" leather. The nappa seats look and feel amazing but the dakota and nevada holds up best over time because it's a rougher leather.

That's leather in a nutshell. If you want to believe everything Apple makes is top quality go ahead but I bet if you go into the iPad accessories forum you could find lots of people complaining how their leather iPad cases fell apart on them. An Apple stamp on accessories is usually just that.

Apple leather bands start at $150.

So again if Apple bands are such a rip off show me a 3rd party Apple Watch band that matches the Apple bands?

Again I've been searching for MONTHS to find 3rd party leather and metal link bands. But none of them are even close to the quality of the Apple bands.

If Apple was truly ripping off people then other companies would be able to match the Apple quality and charge a much lower price. But no one is. That tells me that Apple bands are high quality and a good value. It cost good money to make good designed products and use high end materials.

It's laziness.

Stop being so judgement. There are many circumstances where using the Watch instead of reaching for your phone is much more convient.

When I walk my dog and listen to music I can't use 2 hands to fast forward a song or increase the volume. I can do that with my Watch. I can't do that with my 6+.

If I'm driving I can quickly check an incoming message on my Watch instead of reaching for my pocket for my phone.

When I'm in the shower and want to change a song, I use my Watch. I can't do that with my 6+.

When I'm grilling outside next to a 600 degree pit, I can't reach for my phone (which is safely indoors), I'm simply look at my Watch.

There are many times access to the watch is much easier, safer, and more convient than pulling out your phone. Remeber to unlock your phone requires a fingerprint press. With the Watch you just tilt the watch face.

If you never owned an Apple Watch you should withhold judgement.

My relationship with Apple is going pretty sour. This whole Apple Watch circus is an all-around embarrassment.

It's a gimmicky product that is hideous, non-intuitive, and generally unnecessary. It doesn't feel like something that no one knew they needed - like an iPhone or an iPad. It just feels like a smart watch, a couple steps ahead of the one Samsung released four years ago. And the loops? What is this, middle school?

I sold mind to some schmuck for $300 and haven't regretted it for a single day.

Why does your signature still say you own an Apple Watch? And why are you bashing the leather loop when your signature says you BOUGHT it? LOLOLLLOOLOLLLOLOL. No one forced you to buy the leather loop.

Its not a gimmicky product for me and millions of others who wear it everyday. Is it for everyone? Hell no. Just as the iPod wasn't for everyone in 2001.

The Watch will continue to evolve and improve. And it will be more useful for a broader range of people. Right now the iPhone is Apple's bread and butter. But its pretty obvious to most that wearables have a great chance of taking over the smartphone as the prime personal device in 10 years. It would be foolish for Apple not to venture into wearables and be left behind in the dust. That's why the Watch came out.

You can bash the Watch all you want. Bottom line it will be the fastest selling new Apple product of all time. Its dominating the smart watch category and is #1 in gross sales for any wearable.

What do I use my watch for?

1. Tell time. Duh. Still way more convient to see the time on my wrist instead of pulling out my huge 6+
2. Never miss a call or text message. This is huge. Especially since alot of times I don't have quick access to my phone while working.
3. Activity tracker
4. Control my music at home. Much easier than dragging my iPhone everywhere. Also great when I'm running on my treadmill, I don't have to have my phone in my pocket.
5. Reminders. So easy to miss a reminder when you don't have your phone in front of your face.
6. Quickly check sports scores
7. Quickly check weather
8. Check heart rate during workouts

So the Watch does alot for me already. I expect it to get even better each year.

But some will say "Can't you already do most of that with an iPhone"? Sure. But if you are using that reasoning why carry an iPhone since "you can do most of that with a Macbook". Bottom line is computing devices continue to get more and more portable and accessable.
