I feel like a complete tool. I just paid Apple $100 for 48GB of memory I can't even see. You'd think they'd toss in a watch band for free just to compensate me? ;)

It took a while but we original iPod naysayers were finally vindicated when Apple finally put the nail in the coffin.

Vindicated? After probably one of the most commercially successful and well recognised products you feel vindicated that Apple have now throttled the iPod lineup?

It's a done product. iPhones (and maybe even the iPad and Watch) have eaten the iPod market and that's the only reason Apple "put the nail in the coffin". They had a great run and made a lot of money but people moved onto to converged devices.

The bands are just leading up to Apple's foray into rubber.

I can't wait for the keynote where Timmy introduces the iChoker, iWhip, and GimpiBall with Jony Ives.

"OMG! It's AMAZING, Jony! Oh YES - make it THINNER! YES!!!!! Tell me I'm a GENIUS! Raise that Apple Bar!"

And the safe word is NeXT, just to make it more confusing.

I've never paid much attention to the watch seeing how it's just a novelty/gimmick. Since it relies on the phone being with all the time, it's completely redundant. But 50 bucks for a piece of rubber?! LMAO!
My wife just got one -- this past week. Apple Watches are not redundant at all. Wherever I go I see "everyone" with a huge cell phone in their left hand (a few hold it with their right hand), but my wife now finds she "never" needs to take her iPhone out of her purse when she's on the move. My sister finds the Apple Watch perfect when she is taking care of special needs children; she never needs to find her iPhone -- her Apple Watch is always there and never gets in the way of her work or her charges. One sees the same thing on the "red carpet" at Hollywood events; movers and shakers don't have "time" to always be holding something in their left hand (a few hold it with their right hand) but on the wrist, a $70,000 Apple Watch on Beyonce looks pretty good. The Apple Watch is a lot like Twitter: one has no idea how clever it is until one starts using it.

In answer back to your reply on this, YES.

Actually a VERY BIG YES on what others pay affects your future purposes.

Is we have a lot of dim people with money to burn who are seen to be happy to pay say $49 for something that costs under $5 to make, pack and ship, then companies see this, and it sets new price point for other future items, other brands also see "what the public are willing to pay" and lots of prices get pushed up.

It's only when enough people say it's too much, and refuse to buy, do makers re-thing their pricing, perhaps cutting a price of changing things in the future.

So yes, Someone paying $50 for a strap, does in effect affect someone else.

It's not "dim", and it's not about "cost".
(What is cost anyway? Did people take into account the design and nights people spend thinking about it? I always see people quote only raw materials and as a designer I find that insulting)

Why am I buying Apple seemingly overpriced band/case/whatever?

Because 3rd party products didn't satisfy me. Every time I tried 3rd party band/case/whatever there's something annoying about them. Something like a too sensitive iPad case that can turn off my iPad mini even when the cover was behind the screen, or Belkin charger that damage a circuit inside iPhone 4 so I can not listen to anything on its speakers but when the call came it ringed. etc. etc.
All these products are more cheaper than Apple, and it's not worth it. It's simply not worth the hassles.

I buy Apple band/case/whatever NOT because I have more money than sense but because it never annoys me like this. So I'd rather pay more. Sometimes grudgingly. When it doesn't satisfy me then and only then..

On a reverse side, if people don't pay more what do you think will happen? Will Apple lower the price? Or there will be no "Apple" (insert overpriced products here.. fashion brands, great restaurants, whatever) no more? Thinks about it.

Dim people are someone who thinks squarely, who knows only "cost" but not "value".

I just hope Apple bands aren't as poorly made as their lightning cables. Went through 5 of them until I realized Moshi does a better cable than apple.

That is a whole new level of lazy to not want to reach into a purse.

So having a decent job is cause enough to fork over $50 for some bright rubber? As my grandpa used to say "if a gold turd had a high enough price tag he'd buy it"

Yup, for sure cause enough. People fork over $4 for a cup of famous brand of coffee that contains maybe 3 cents worth of raw materials. Or $40 - $100 for a pair of jeans that cost less than $2 to make. Or spend $150+ for shoes that are made from $5 worth of materials. I could go on and on.

I could not care less about what other people do with their money.

But I do think it's amusing others get so visibly worked up about that.

If the short history of smartphones is any guide, the watches will only get larger - to the point the truly fashionable will be wearing huge chains around their neck to sport the latest greatest tech and forcing others to take selfies of them sporting their iClocks to post on Instagram - which I was sad to find out was not a delivery service for cocaine...

Also, as 60" is supposedly the very smallest screen that might allow anyone to enjoy the ridiculous 4K videos you can now shoot on your 5.5" 6S Plus... But wait, the excuse for that is so you can better edit your latest Kardashian vid?

So Apple actually took time during their keynote to introduce the new bands - and Tim was obviously so excited to be forced to submit to a smaller phone that there was basically zero energy during the ENTIRE keynote address, where you'd think he'd be super-Apple-excited about introducing the "smallest, most AMAZINGLY powerful smartphone EVER" - but I think he was more excited about the bands that maybe Jony designed for him?

Does anyone else sense that the entire world is off-kilter and likely to be thrown off its axis into absolute banality?

And pretty much the only defense of the bands is someone bragging that they just have money to burn, IN YO FACE?

I must just be in a hyper-negative mood this evening. I'll be glad when my SE arrives and I have better things to do ;)

There's a whole new level of unhappiness and jealousy to put so much time and worry into how others live their lives and spend their money.

Wow - you're just flaming away. YOU GO GIRL! Don't let them be telling you how to spend your money, hellz to the no! SNAP from some City, yeah - you heard her!

I often see the lazy argument trotted out but it's ridiculous. It's not lazy, it's a convenience.

There's nothing particularly active about checking your smartphone. How lazy is it to check your smartphone when you could go logon to your desktop? Where does it end? TV remote controls, etc make your life a bit easier and no one wants to go back to switching over channels or sitting down at their computer to read a quick message.

I go running with my watch and workout with it so I wouldn't say I'm lazy but I do like the convenience of reading a message, etc from my watch.

I'm guessing this was written by someone who doesn't actually carry a purse or diaper bag.

Having a phone in a bag is nothing like sliding it into a pocket. You're more disconnected. You can rarely take a phone out of a bag with one hand -- usually you need the other to hold the bag open.

I'm incredibly organized. My phone, when it's in a bag, is in a dedicated, easily accessible pocket, but I TOTALLY understand why not having to pull it out while juggling a bag or two and/or a kid or two would be better. As was said above, it's a convenience.

I don't even have an Apple Watch, but this kind of judgement bugs the daylights out of me.

The new Apple Watch bands that were introduced at Monday's "Let Us Loop You In" event are now available for personal pickup from Apple's online store, letting prospective buyers check in-store stock levels and arrange for in-store pickup after purchasing online.

Apple has been selling the new Apple Watch bands in retail stores since earlier this week, but prior to today, there was no way to know if a particular store had a specific band available for purchase.

Many bands that will not ship for several weeks from the online store, such as the Gold/Royal Blue Woven Nylon band and the Yellow Apple Watch Sport band, are immediately available in Apple retail stores across the country. There are some bands, like the 38mm Scuba Blue and Gold/Red Woven Nylon, that appear to be in shorter supply and are not available at most stores.

The Woven Nylon bands, available for $49 in Gold/Red, Gold/Royal Blue, Royal Blue, Pink, Pearl, Scuba Blue, and Black, are a new product line that just debuted this week. Apple has also updated the Sport Band, Modern Buckle, Leather Loop, and Classic Buckle with new spring color choices and introduced a new Black Milanese Loop.

I have not met any Apple watch owner (and I have spoken with about 7 ) that is excited about their watch.
Almost all just say, "it's OK".

Personally at this point in time, I was expecting Apple Watch 2, not just some more (IMHO overpriced) rubber wrist straps.

Right... funny how actual real polling of owners is completely different from your own "poll", I'm going to call bs on that.

The watch has not been out a year, more like 7-8 months in many place and you were expecting a new one?

 Lazy? Have you seen some women's purses? Have you seen mine?

It's like a spelunking expedition in there to find my iPhone 6S Plus and that thing is huge! I'm not even the kind of person to carry a lot of garbage. I clean my purses out regularly but I'm a mom and I'll be out somewhere and the inevitable stuff happens with the kids and next thing you know I'm asked to stuff a soggy sock ball wrapped in a scarf into my purse...Don't ask. You don't want to know. o_O

I think the weirdest thing I had to carry in my purse was a betta fish in a cup and a goldfish in a bag. Don't worry, both went on to live long happy lives in proper living conditions.

I am not just a mother and a wife, I'm the family pack mule. Lazy! Indeed!

When I run into a fellow Apple Watch owner we run our mouths a mile a minute about how it changed our lives or saved us some grief.

With people who don't own one, I'm much more reserved in my comments because most have this attitude or stink eye look at it when they ask me about it. I can see their minds are already made up that I'm some whack job that likes to throw my money away on junk. So I just say something to politely deflect the conversation elsewhere.

If the person is already wearing a Pebble or a Fitbit I am even more self deprecating because they tend to preemptively tell me how superior their device is and they didn't have to spend a fortune on it, while casting odd looks at my Apple Watch that could be envy or derision. I'm an easygoing person and I'm not going to get in a peeing contest about whose smart watch is better or try to impress anyone with it. I'm so happy with it that I got two, and that's all that matters to me. Other people can do their own research and decide in their own what best suits them.

And it is "OK". It can fade into the background of your life and be taken for granted. Which is a good thing. Fiddly fussy things that demand attention can become wearying when they are on your wrist all day.

Wow! Apple news are getting more and more exciting:

A 4" phone and now more band colors (at $50 each)!

Who says Apple can't innovate any longer?
