The Controller looks impressive.. Price is TOO High "It's a game controller FFS" been saying this since 2014!
Their purchasing model SUCKS... only can buy from the App?? Ridiculous.. infact it looks a lot like a marketing SCAM..
If you do download the App, its say SOLD OUT (3000 units) .. join the queue,, im currently sitting at over 10,000th.. Yeh right..Ok.. sure...oh yeh theres also a cryptic masonic icon in the top right of the App which allows you to input some SECRET code to instantly buy one... OK sure ..right...Bye.

$100? Who is seriously that into iOS gaming that they would spend $100 bucks on a controller?
No-One.. they have been failing since 2014 when the 1st MFi Controller was released at $100..which you can now pick up on fleabay for $5....retail price for ALL controllers should be $49 at the most.

Just got mine last night and started playing with it. It works and feels great, honestly. My only complaint right now is that the triggers and bumpers don't really work for CoD Mobile. Reached out to them to find out if I'm doing something wrong and haven't gotten a response yet.

Apple's iPhone and iPad have supported gaming controllers for quite some time now, and there are several on the market, but the new Backbone One controller is being praised as one of the best new controllers to use with Apple's iPhones for mobile gaming.

The Backbone One connects to the sides of the iPhone and offers a standard controller layout with clickable thumb sticks, d-pad, analog triggers, action buttons, and more. It's designed to fit all of Apple's iPhones and works with any iPhone that has iOS 13 or later installed. There's a Lightning connector on one side that plugs into the iPhone's Lightning port for connectivity, so Bluetooth is not required and latency remains low.

The Backbone One features a dedicated button for recording gameplay or taking screenshots, and games can be recorded at up to 1080p at 30 frames per second. A Backbone app button also launches right into the Backbone app, and there's a 3.5mm headphone jack for use with headsets. Since it connects over Lightning, charging is not required.

With the Backbone One app, users can launch games and access game recordings, plus interact with friends through social features. When someone you're friends with also has a Backbone One, when a game is started you receive a push notification and can join in and you can communicate with one another.

Any game that supports game controllers is compatible with the Backbone One, including Apple Arcade games. Multiple reviews of the Backbone One have gone live today, and the controller is getting heavy praise. Wired said the controller has the exact layout you'll find on a console controller, and that it's so "immersive and well designed" that it's easy to forget you're playing on a phone.

The Verge said that Backbone "makes the iPhone feel like a bona fide gaming platform" and that the app features feel like "a gaming experience that somehow beats Apple to the punch of fleshing out its own gaming ambitions."

The Backbone One is priced at $99 and it must be purchased through the Backbone app. [Direct Link]

So I bought the Backbone for my 8yr old son for Christmas 2020... yesterday my 12yr old installed the app onto his phone and now his phone has crashed.. he has an iPhone XR and we can’t access anything on the phone now... it just has the backbone symbol and that’s it... all photos etc are wiped... clearly the app must have been a virus... has this happened to anyone else..?

Have you tried to force a restart of the phone?

So I missed this when it came out last year and just found out about it. I've been looking into the Razer Kishi, but the Backbone looks so much better.

In my case, the appeal with controllers like this one are not mobile games (although obviously it's a nice bonus) but rather remote play. I use Steam Link and PlayStation Remote Play all the time.
Someone in the thread mentioned a standard controller with a clip to attach your phone. While this works, in my experience this makes the set very top-heavy, which makes it very uncomfortable to playing in bed, for example.

The Backbone One is very appealing to me, which is very unfortunate to my wallet, as I ordered mine yesterday.

So…an update:

Backbone replaced mine after I demonstrated that the triggers weren’t working. Using this with Nvidia GeForceNow, Stadia, and steamlink is amazing for on the go gaming. Before biting my gaming pc, I was playing Cyberpunk, Destiny 2, and several other games through GeForceNow and it’s been great. For an on the go gamer, this was an easy 100 that I’m not afraid to have spent.

the controls are not uncomfortable and using it over the Kishi is my preferred option. The Kishi cramped my hands up after prolonged playing and made it difficult to play in bed while lying down. The Backbone was a completely different story and I can play for hours. My battery life is a non issue when playing on a streaming platform so everyone arguing about the battery life and AAA gaming not being a thing may want to reconsider their opinions before just saying no to something like this.

I read the 4 pages of the thread and I assure you that 10p bucks is worth it ! Really, it works with my iPhone SE 2016, I can charge it when playing on it.
i use it to stream my plastation 5 in my bed’ even sofa or at works. I like trigger collègue when then see me playing God of War ps4 on my phone.

I wait a long time before buy it, I used my dualshock 4 before and as denis said it, it feel to heavy and uncorfortable.
the connection by lightning is far better than Bluetooth, with but there is always a little lag

i recommend you this pad rather the others !
