iPhone New BiteSMS 8.0.4

Hi,


I've read that when the BiteSms app is downloaded it directly replaces the stock Messages app.

Is this still the case ?

Yes and no.

Is there only one app? Yes.

Does biteSMS come up in Spotlight? No.
Does Messages? Yes.

Is it named biteSMS? Yes.
Does it look exactly like Messages? Yes, except for a settings button to the left of search.


I don't like it this way because I only used biteSMS for the quick reply and quick compose. Especially pre-iOS 7 when the biteSMS app itself was really, really slow and laggy. That's one of the reasons I didn't care about the ads, I never saw them since I didn't use the app.

I recall a long while ago when i was using BiteSmS I could use that app but also enter the stock messages app.

ie : send texts from two places.

Is this still the case ?

Yeah, that's what I'm saying I would do. I'd use the stock messages app and then pretend like the biteSMS app didn't exist.

But now, that is no longer the case. It's one single app now. :\

Hmmm not what i was hoping as like you I preferred both options.

Possibly when its out of beta this may change.

Also as Bite SmS takes over the stock messages app does the block text feature in iOS7 still work ?

Didn't they change that at some point because that way bite could reach the speed of the native app?

Use iFile to delete the entire bitesms folder, then uninstall it via cydia and then reinstall it. That did the trick for me.

Went into var/stash/Application.RandomString and deleted the biteSMS.app folder from there, uninstalled via Cydia, installed after the respring, and it was still giving me the issue. :(

Maybe you can use "FunBox" then search for "bitesms" and delete all you see in there...``

Reboot and then reinstall?!

Offcourse I use BiteSMS, but just want to rename it to
"Berichten" (Messages-Dutch)... :(
Allready send a message to the Developers, but I guess they are really busy.:(

:\ I guess I'll try that when I get home. Hopefully there's a fix so I don't end up having to wait for one of those not-so-trusty repos to upload it.

There's another tweak called "Messages" I think which is a great looking QC/QR tweak for the messages app. It looks exactly the same as the stock messages app. I'd prolly use that if I didn't buy bitesms so many years ago. Plus the additional features I listed above for bite are a great bonus.

There's a free version of bite. It's exactly the same as the paid version. Check it out for yourself. Can't beat QC/QR.

biteSMS is one of the reasons I JB and honestly would JB just for this app. I use the Schedule feature a lot. The QR is very handy and I like the Pictures showing up next to the contact name.

I ponied up for the paid version and it looks like I might have to pay for it again, but it is worth it for me.

Try the var / mobile / Library / biteSMS folder. That's the one I deleted. Then open Cydia and uninstall and then reinstall. See if that's the ticket.

Thank you! Not only did this work, but it also extended my trial another 7 days!
 
Few days ago I also had licence not recognized, so i unistall it. Just tried install again & licence is fulll... :)

It's the strangest thing. I've been wondering this too. No indication of it on my iPhone, but sometimes it shows on my iPad, though never on the home screen.

It only shows in app and also this is a beta that's why u see no option for it yet

Also just saying bitesms said new iOS 7 style icon will be next update

I really hope they get the status bar chat bubble working soon. I had it set up perfectly on 6.1.2 where it only showed one message in NC so instead of clicking on the bubble and it would open the NC it would just open the QR. No matter how many messages I had, it never opened the NC.

Now I have to keep banners on and constantly open the NC because the status bar bubble isn't working at all for me and it doesn't even show on the LS or SB.

So I am reeeally hoping that is a bug that is worked out and fixed soon!
 
how the heck do i get rid of the little text bubble that tells me to swipe up for keyboard when someone text me?

Thank you! Trying it now. In the new version, since that article is 3 years old, there's something like infofw5.plist and info.fw6.plist where just info.plist should be sooooo let's see how guessing how to do this turns out.

EDIT / UPDATE: I was able to edit it from "biteSMS" to "iMessage" (what I personally preferred) in both the files, but for some reason it was still saying "biteSMS" under the icon after a restart and respring.

Go to bitesms using iFile
Choose the English.lproj folder

Select bitesms.strings and open it with property list viewer.

Scroll down to "biteSMS and edit it to "messages" as shown in picture.

Respring
