I just read some not too favorable reviews on MONOLINGUAL, it messes with a lot of programs, namely Safari, and Mac Mail, making them unusable.

indeed, you have to be very careful what you remove from your system. Don't remove anything on the Architectures tab, you may not be able to run PPC programs via Rosetta anymore.

Does anyone have a list of applications that are good to download?

I would recommend:

iStat Pro, for monitoring your system info

smcFanControl2, for keeping your MacBook cool

Caffeine, for preventing your MacBook from going to sleep, with a handy menubar button

Great, Thanks.. im looking foward to getting the macbook. Im concerned with the screen though. i keep reading that the screen is not that good and apple uses very cheap screens... i wonder if that could be an update that rumors are saying.. but i hope it isnt as bad as people say.

appzapper - great uninstaller program, really easy to use

the unarchiver - to unzip rar files and zip files

stuffit expander - if you don't use rar files..then this program would do fine for zip files

onyx - good maintance program, clear cache and other system diagnostics

smcfancontrol - to control your fan speed..

flip4mac - to play .wmv files

It includes every single languages, dude. The languages that you want to keep, you don't put a check mark next to them. And the ones you want to remove you put a check mark next to them and click on Remove.
