The old EarPods do not look like limp cigarettes hanging out of one's ears.

Generally, the concept of people sticking stuff into their ears is neither attractive nor hygienic (but it sure gives ear doctors and hearing aid makers job security for many years to come).

Since when is the "thickness of a cigarette" the barometer for whether something looks goofy or not?

How about ANYTHING sticking out of your head is silly... corded or not? :D

But seriously... the AirPods have probably the lowest-profile of any wireless earbuds. Yes they have a stem... but they're still pretty slim overall. They can fit under hats, helmets, etc.

And the stem actually has a purpose... two beamforming microphones that are aimed at your mouth. It's a great idea.

Sadly... people forget that little nugget of information.

So we get "looks like cigarettes in your ears" without considering why Apple made them that way. ;)

Okay, so AirPods are the Bluetooth headsets of 2017. Great.

Few people walk around with Bluetooth headsets these days. They were all the rage for about five years, but very few use them today, at least in public. Even fewer seem to be using them while driving, based on all of the drivers illegally holding their phones to their ears whom I encounter regularly while driving.

AirPods come with their own troubles. You pull one out and you have to worry where you put it. For wired earbuds/earphones, you just let it dangle by its cord.

Here's one litmus test: would you pull out an AirPod using a gloved hand on a ski lift chair 50 feet above fresh powder?

Yeah, 'cause the dynamics between what an iPod could do pre-smartphones & no Internet streaming in the '90s, and what wireless earphones can do in 2017 are practically interchangeable. Yeah.

Do you have evidence supporting that the AirPods are a failure? I Question your claim in the validity behind your post. Being you Started a thread stating that the AirPods would never launch before the new year or Before the iPhone 8 . And both of those were fallacies. Exactly. It's like when your friend who only wears printed T-shirts feels funny wearing a plain T-shirt.

Regardless of the numbers, the buzz about a new product from Apple that has people using terms like magic is going to have a halo effect.

Maybe the day that "every other person" is seen wearing them, then that might be true. So far, I have not seen a single person yet wear them in public.

I remember how rare it was to see another iPhone as late as 2008. But to be fair, we didn't have them out on display all the time either.

That's kinda what I'm saying... all these numbers float around but depending on the research method it can be largely guesswork without official numbers from the company. I have only seen them a handful of times in the wild and I work downtown in a city of medium size.

That's not what I said at all... I'm mostly referring to the easily-recognizable white earbud shape, which is also easily distinguished from the wired versions. I haven't seen that many of them around yet. I have seen loads more Apple Watches lately, though.

All I'm saying is these numbers should be taken with a grain of salt, and looking at a product in its infancy (not even a month on the streets yet) like this is somewhat useless. Give it a year or so and you'll see a whole lot more of these around.

Just because Apple got you to buy that new iPhone with a dongle and then had you wait until 2017 to order the Airpods that were supposed to ship earlier... doesn't mean I was wrong. Airpods still aren't in stores. They tricked you. And you just fell right in line.

Here it is, January and a good half of yall do not have your Airpods still. They're still not in stores. Some of you have them, of course. But they're hardly readily available. THEY'RE on BACK ORDER.

Forget the iPhone 7. It's 2017. it's time for this iPhone 8.

It's a lot worse with the AirPods. For example with the iPhone you could check stock in the morning and at least some Apple Stores in the area would have them in stock, and you could then reserve them for pickup.

With the AirPods, there is absolutely NO stock and all the stores say March availability. They're not hard to get, they're impossible to get.

I told you. It's on backorder. That hasn't changed. I told you the Airpods wouldn't be coming until 2017 and I was right. I told you so.

If they were in short supply for another three years then this wouldn't change the fact that they did come in 2016. Mine (ordered 14th December) arrived on 23rd December.
