My money is on Relentless Power and Canyonblue737. I doubt there will be a major change in the watch. I have a Series 1 that, apparently needs an upgrade. I don't think so but my hubby does. I continually complain about not getting exercise credit because I don't get my heart rate above 130 for long enough so it only gives me movement credit. I don't think a new watch will fix the software of it all.

The sensors have gotten better over the versions. I have been impressed with the 4. I'm a lab rat, and have to get my rings for the day... Currently set for 740. I knew someone who had theirs set for 1,100, and got it most days. WOW!

If the trajectory is correct, the Apple Watch S7 would be major the next revision about every three years. So that would put the Apple Watch S7 as the next major change, which I assume will have haptic buttons for example, thinner, maybe micro-led, ect. If someone was holding out for a physical change, the S6 won’t be that Model. Apple is very conservative for changes in the Apple Watch, because it matured so quickly.

No you can't...

I thought watch faces could be programmed with X-Code. Hmm... That sucks. The Garmin fenix, and other watches, can have self-programmed faces. I wonder why Apple is blocking that possibility. Dang...

EDIT: You can write your own 'complications', but not the actual face behind them. Some developers are getting creative with using complications to make their own faces. It should be possible, but it's Apple... *shrug*

I'll take my prizes and awards now gents... ;-)

the SE is as I predicted a S4 with a name change to prevent it sounding old now and if they reuse the same model next year too...

I must have missed the major redesign with the 4

that's what passes for a major redesign at apple... new case (larger sizes, new curve shapes), new screen (larger with rounded curved edges instead of 90 degree angles), completely new sensor package on the back.

I suspect the fundamental identical shape of the case from S4->S6 will again change next year and the screen will somehow be different. it will still be a square form but the curves will change yet again, maybe even less bezel, maybe thinner because of a new screen technology etc.

Well I was wrong! I don't care though because this is the internet lol.
My surprise is the SE having the same design as the 6 and presumably having better battery life, also keeping the 3 and at $199, should've dropped it to $150 as would tempt lots of people into the system, heck I would buy one as a spare for swimming/bike.

I think Apple has too much history now to change the face shape to something other than square, or slightly rectangular. Going to a round face would blow up to much of what they have. But it can be bigger, or less margin. That would be nice. I remember the first few days with my 4. The screen looked freakish compared to what I was used to with the 3. It 'looked' cumbersome, surprisingly. I almost didn't like it. Now, it's like second nature, it's bright, clear, and the size seems perfect. Going larger would likely just be 'larger', with no real benefit other than that. I think, like the iPhone, they are hitting a ceiling for what it can do. Adding pulse-ox is a good thing, but at this moment, I can't think of anything else they could add that would be 'Earth shaking', without making the screen larger. Who would want to read a book on an Apple Watch, or watch a movie on one. Maybe adding a camera to an Apple Watch, but could they actually add a camera to that device and not make it a screaming joke, and the camera a useless doodad that ends up being pointless. Eventually the 'new one every year' addiction people have for phones, watches, and other tech, has to stop. It's generating tons of waste every year, and often offering minimal benefits.

But anyway.

It's making me think of upgrading to the AW6, from my 4. Guilty as charged!!!

EDIT: After looking at the Apple Watch page on their website, the one thing that will rock, or chill, the Apple Watch will be software. I may be stating the obvious, but software will exploit the features and capabilities of the Watch. Eventually they will reach the maximum they can do in hardware, and it'll be up to the software.

Thinking about hardware features here are things I think the next few years could bring...

1. subtle shape change to “freshen” the design to make new, just like iPhone is going back to flat edges this year. I agree it won’t ever go round.

2. micro/mini led technology for the watch will lead to either thinner watches or way more room for bigger batteries.

3. At some point the optical HR sensor is inevitably going to go full time 24/7 every second monitoring. Garmin and Fitbit devices already do but apple’s still only samples every 5-15 minutes except during workouts when it tracks every second.

4. the AOD will continue to get better and brighter and at some point enough battery margin will exist to allow the AOD to work with 3rd party apps and complications too.

5. true faster wireless charging at some point is coming, this years 20% faster is a start.

6. At some point hopefully we can get to 2-3 day battery life.

7. Skin temp and conductance (sweat) sensors.

8. blood pressure sensor.
