I've got a real carbon fiber case for my 3gs and never had a problem. I have more of a problem with the new iphone updates which have left me constantly dropping to 1 bar, especially after i exit an app. Anyone get that?

From what I understand, 3GS/3G is a different antenna design. Cant compare it to iPhone 4 with carbon fiber.......carbon fiber cases are signal destructive, this is from personal experience with a carbon fiber case. (EDIT: Just checked, and actually it was the DRO concepts case, NOT the M-Tech case. The DRo concepts case does look gorgeous though :p). I dont have experience with the M-Tech version.

oh that I didnt know. the new Dro for iphone 4 was my fantasy case if i ever got a 4. too bad about the reception i love the metal part in the middle, fine as hell.

Nobody's gotten one yet?

Couldn't wait, placed my order last Friday morning. Expected to receive it Tuesday/Wednesday. I'll report back with my opinions if anyone's interested...

I'm a little "concerned" with the 'carbon affecting signal' talk... I had to return my el3ctron case (original, NOT the hybrid) because of severe signal loss (my home's a little weak to begin with) and am hoping this case will yield different results.

A Couple Things to Note:

One little gripe of mine is that there is a tiny gap on one side of the case where the two pieces come together. The connection is definitely more flush on one side than on the other. But, like I said above, the case clicks when it’s locked in place. So for now, I’m not too worried about it.

Hope that helps!

Just a little update on how the case has held up after some use. A few days ago, I went to pull the case out of my pants pocket and the bottom piece came off the case with little resistance. I noticed that the side with the slight gap required very little pressure to separate the top piece from the bottom piece. That side of the case just did not lock as solidly as the right side.

I did contact Element Case about the issue and they are sending me a warranty replacement case. (Yay!) Hopefully, it was an isolated incident, and my new case will lock a bit better to avoid the two pieces coming apart so easily because I really love the case!

Also, I did not experience any signal issues with the case.

Thanks for the update. Good to hear they're sending you another case as well as no noticed signal loss.
Guess I'll keep my eye on the separation area...

Got mine yesterday.

Same "separation issue", though it doesn't seem to come off as easily... yet.

No signal issues whatsoever, and it looks great!

The small separation isn't bothering me so far, but I'll be keeping my eye on it to make sure it doesn't get worse. Other than that, I love it.

From the front it looks a lot like the vapor, and though I was hesitant to purchase a case w/backing, I actually like the back a lot. Solid case for sure!

Blah, missed the 10$ off and they wanna charge me 13$ for ground shipping a case! Wow. I will wait for some reviews.

$13 is way steep!! im with you on that one... waiting for some reviews...

carbon fiber does mess with signal and gps.... with it just being a small piece on the case it might not effect very much but we will see. i understand what you are saying

it doesnt affect signal because it doesnt cover the antennas.

i prefer the silicone material case. And do you have some information about DIY case? I want to design my own style.

I have the Formula 4 case and it's great. High quality

I've had a question about that case that no one has answered. Whats the inside of the case like? Is there any sort of rubber or felt lining so that the glass back of the phone isn't flush against the plastic (preventing scratches and adding further impact absorption)? I wish they had pics of this on their site.

There is no padding or extra shock absorbing cushion on the inside of the case.

The fit is extremely snug, with the phone running up guided tracks as you insert the phone into the case backing. I've had the case for a little over a month, and the case has not caused any scratches to the back of the phone.

The inside material is the same as the outside polycarbonate.

It really is a solid case all around. Hope this helps!

Not sure I like the idea of slider without any sort of interior cushioning, especially for the back glass. Its still a nice looking case. Thanks for the info!

Wow no padding inside at all?!

I was imagining some rubber rails like the incase slider

Same. That means the case would offer little in terms of real impact absorption. I'd be really concerned about dropping it on a sidewalk or similar surface. I would have thought that elementcase would have thought that one through. This makes the Ion 4 a much more attractive case imo. Its both cheaper and based on what I've read in a review, its more durable. Shame, because I really was considering this case. Maybe a future version.

If you're looking for a case with good drop protection, then yes, the Ion would be preferable.

I will say though that I've dropped my phone in the Formula 4 case on two seperate occasions, once on the driveway and once on my pool deck, and both times I've had no damage to the phone OR the case, not even a scratch or scuff.

I have a black first edition IPhone vapor pro case and a black and pink vapor 4 case for sale.

Pm me if interested.....make an offer. Thanks

Depends upon how much you care about your signal reception. Not supposed to be as big of an issue on the Pros vs the Vapor 4s. The metal bumpers look sharp, but again, I'd want something with more shock absorption for the back glass panel. I feel like the shock from a drop would just transfer from a metal bumper directly into the phone's frame sans backpiece or cushioning. Then again, I'm kind of biased against bumpers in general because of this concern.
