New file manager for OS X called Files

Files - wow!

Mike - this is a great program - many thanks. It has already eased my considerable frustration with the OSX Finder. Keep up the good work! Best wishes, David.
 
I use this app and I like it, thanks for your great work. I miss terminal font size preference. It's too small for me. I changed font in preferences / panels / classic / font and it works for UI but not for terminal.

A new version 0.5.9 of Files Manager is available with the following changes:
- improved Unicode support in classic panel presentation and in terminal emulator
- ability to load file’s encoding setting from com.apple.TextEncoding extended attribute
- option to show localized filenames
- keyboard shortcuts editing in preferences window
- panel sorting hotkeys changed to ^⌘1-^⌘5
- eject volume hotkey: ⌘E
- QuickSearch works without key modifiers by default

SMB protocol

Migun,

what a great app! I was looking for Far Manager replacement for OS X and I think I've found it! You should ask money for it - it's a great file manager. I have a question for you though, do you have SMB protocol support implementation in your plans? 🙂

Thanks for a response, glad that you've found Files useful.
Currently there're no plans for smb support in near releases.
Mostly because MacOSX has a pretty decent built-in support for this protocol, but I can miss something that makes crucial having an alternate way to access such sources - please tell me if so.

It would be great to have SMB support in Files so you don't need to switch to another app to access SMB share.

Hi everybody,

A new version 1.1.3 of Nimble Commander is now available with the following changes:
  • Added External Tools integration support: Quickly open any application with a variety of parameters based on the current focus/selection/path, etc.
  • Added a new option to overwrite older files during a copy or move operation.
  • Now External Editors can be used with any virtual file system, and changed files will be uploaded back.
  • Added the new ⇧⌘P shortcut to toggle single-pane or dual-pane mode.
  • Now deleting a file with process information in PSFS (Processes List) will kill that process.
  • Added access to F1 … F19 buttons regardless of system settings.
  • Enabled scripting with AppleScript.
  • Now in case of drag & drop within NC, it will check whether the source and target filesystems are the same. Based on that information, NC will choose between moving and copying. Of course, the keyboard modifiers (Ctrl for linking, Alt for copying, Cmd for moving) will be considered, too.
  • Added new shortcuts: F9 to compress items in the target panel, and ⇧F9 to compress items in the current panel.
  • Fixed the issue with unmountable volumes (for example, USB flash drives that were locked by the built-in terminal and could not be ejected).
  • Built-in terminal will no longer produce error messages on USB sticks with FAT32.
  • Made some improvements in the handling of symbolic links inside archives.
  • Fixed some visual and stability bugs.
