iMove6 HD was good - they killed it when they redesigned it and I switched to FCP ...
That certainly was Apple's main intention behind iMovie 08: Forcing ambitious amateurs to FCP or FCE!
Heck, iMovie 06 worked in certain circumstances even good enough for pros to edit a short clip on the run...

In 2003 the whole feature-length and award winning documentary "Tarnation" was edited with iMovie on a G4 iMac.

Oh??? Do you happend to read some user forums? Where everybody (newest panasonics and Sonys) are complaining avchd 1080p50 aint regonised by adobe premiere? I myself phoned the helpdesk where they told me there are no plans whatsoever to start supporting these formats or cameras?
Btw, i do have FCP to, they have the same problem, but then again...THATS apple. :)

You want to export an acquisition format? I've never seen a request for that. Message me and we'll take this discussion offline.

Current FCP Displaying Over Thunderbolt

Interesting demonstration of performance of the Thunderbolt technology over at Engadget. FCP displaying 4 1080p channels to secondary display. So says the Apple rep in the video.

Nothing is ever off the table, so sorry that the helpdesk gave you incorrect information. Do you have a case number by any chance?

Can you file a feature request for the format?: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish

So, iPad 2 gets iMovie. Is that what the Final Cut developers have been working on? Hopefully, FCS will be "one more thing."

Come on man, really? This is a consumer event. Jobs wouldn't introduce Final Cut Studio. If Apple does an event for this, it'd be a pro event, not tacked on to a consumer event about the iPad. I'm guessing though that FCS4 will get a Press Release just like 3 got in July of '09.

Where did Apple do that?
They didn't. I got my facts and speculation mixed up.

Between the rumors, hearing what people who got to preview the app had to say, and Apple's release history for FCP the general consensus is that it will be announced around the time of NAB (late April). Hell, it would be sweet if it was unveiled at the Las Vegas SuperMeet (a giant get together of various FCP user groups during NAB).

Yeah, I forgot about the gathering of Hollywood "bigs". We'll see. Hopefully Color will be streamlined a bit, as it stands out like John McClane in Harlem.
I once had to color correct an image video (20 minutes) and I had access to Color and was impressed with it, but I couldn't get to know it in time and I just used Combustion to do the colour correction on 180 shots or so. It was not ideal, but I grew up with Combustion, therefore I preferred it anyway, even though it is not as powerful in CC as Color.

Heard anything about the Scarlet yet? RED.com is quite silent on those and I don't really go through reduser.net that often.

Things like improved round-tripping between Color and FCP would be great but I hope they don't dumb-down the app. It's very powerful and is an absolute steal for being included in the FCS price. From what I've read Epic, Epic-s, and Scarlet are moving forward (in that order). Projected specs and dates don't really mean anything to Red so I tend to stay away until products are actually shipping.

Server

I would like to see Final Cut Server integrated into Final Cut Studio the way OS X Lion Server will be integrated into the normal Lion install. Thoughts?
