iPod touch new generation of itouch?

I'm thinking about getting an itouch, and heard of someone said that they probably will come out with a new generation in the next two months. Is there any validity to that rumor?

iPods are normally updated in September. At present the Back to School promo is on (buy a Mac and get a rebate on an iPod), so it won't be before September 8th.

Just get the 2g, I mean if you always look to update, you won't have anything.

September. No chance of it happening before. The keynote will probably be on either September 8th or 15th.
