Did they explain why they're getting rid of off line maps? It better be a hell of an expansion because that's a dumb move.
I read that it's coming, just wasn't quite ready yet. Seems odd, but who knows. We'll see....
still haven't gotten the update yet![]()
Sometimes you can go to the Play store on a desktop browser and remotely install the updates even if they're not showing as available on your phone's Play store app.Seems he prefers to wait![]()

Thank you, I know that, but with ok maps you can store just one small map in the cache.
In the older version you could download as many maps as you liked to your smartphone.
For those that want "offline" maps and "Latitude" find my friends info;
1. Offline Maps: open Google Maps and zoom in or out to the area you want to download for offline use. When you have the area you want simply say "Okay Maps" via voice input or type it out in the search area at the top of the screen.
The reason for this adjustment and new API is to bring the feature to Google Glass (and presumably Google Watch.)
2. "Latitude" is dead and all info you currently have in it will be deleted come August 9th. You need to go into Google+ and add you friends in via the "Locations" tab. If you are not signed up for Google+, then you will not be able to use this feature.
According to the app's page on Google Play, it's a gradual roll out. I was confused for a minute as to why you guys were seeing the update and I wasn't.
(don't know if this is a copy of imaps or because of Waze acquisition?)
Google+ locations isn't working. The map never loads.
and other info about delays now added (don't know if this is a copy of imaps or because of Waze acquisition?);
Just got it off the internet![]()
Looks great so far...
Not on mine. I zoomed out and cached a city sized area in one go. I then performed this action on another city.
Both are functioning offline as expected at all zoom levels.

Google's bringing off line maps back after complaints.

What Google really needs to do is make the double-tap-and-hold to zoom with one finger a feature across their entire os. It'll help with one handed use.
I love this feature in Google maps.

This is not working on my phone. I wonder if it is an IOS exclusive.
This is not working on my phone. I wonder if it is an IOS exclusive.
I just tried it on both my iPhone and Nexus 7 and it worked on both. I got a new Maps pushed to me yesterday even though I had loaded what I thought was the latest on Wednesday.
Any new Google features will go to Android devices first, especially features coming from Google's Lab add-ons. And why would Google ever give Apple exclusive features?

Yep, works just fine on my S3 and Nex7 too.
Was just a question. Maybe the update I got for maps was not the new one
For new features you should be on version 7.0.1
