Your $200 would be infinitely better spent on a lovely set of AKG K550s.

If you are looking for inexpensive over ears I would recommend either m-audio q40s or denon d2000s. if you want in-ears I have found the klipshe s4 have been the best bang for the buck even 6 years later

He is right, so this would save you more money. And yes, they regularly do on third party products, in addition to their own Black Friday.

what do you guys think of these? i have a coupon to knock them down to 40 dollars/

they use to be sold at the apple store last year

I have never heard them, but without a doubt there are better sounding options. If thats not your main concern, they are pretty good looking cans.

the vmodas above are also very good ^

the 40 dollars price tag for them seem very attractive lol

Id say go for it if you're set on them. Like I said, no experience with them, but they look decent for $40. worst case you try them out and return them if they're not to your liking. I was just giving some other options at that price point.

let us know how they sound and isolate. I'd be interested in those if they're half decent sounding

edit: read some reviews and it seems the bass might be lacking if thats what you're looking for. just fyi

I agree. I have the M80's and they sound great. The m100 are the over ear version and from reviews sound even better. Plus they are built like a tank.

They are! Worth every penny. After the burn in, they sound amazing.

I got mine from amazon.

Ha...I actually like the "new" Apple earpods. As someone who works out a lot and has always had troubles with earbuds falling out, I've found that the earpods not only sound pretty nice (they blow the Sony wraparound earbuds I always used out of the water) but they also stay in my ears nicely no matter what I'm doing. They aren't as stylish as huge $200 Beats, but I think they're really useable for the price. The white Apple headphone cable is still a small fashion statement in itself anyways. ;)

I think it also comes down to not only what type of music do you listen to, but what are you doing while you're wearing headphones? Are you just sitting and chilling somewhere, or are you out running around, working out, etc.? It has become a big trend to wear huge Beats cans at the gym now. I think it looks completely ridiculous wearing something like that while you're lifting/running. Also, I have to imagine it gets pretty warm/uncomfortable having those huge earmuffs on while you're getting all hot and sweaty.

You prefer whatever, others who spend the money on a legit set of cans is looking for sound and quality.

Beats are just a fashion item. And also, someone stupid enough to spend the money on that trash. I would prefer Bose headphones over Beats.. If that says anything.

Is that a good deal?
Never get Beats by Dre unless you want to look like a douche, personally I like the look of the Sennheiser OCX 685i purely because I like to run and they look perfect and Sennheiser are very good :D
My Sister works in an Apple store in London & said that Beats are 60% off till the end of July, got mine last year when the deal was 50% off.
Really? Didn't see that when I was in there today, are you sure it's until the end of the month?

the beats are in sale cuz the new line if studios. they've changed the entire sound of em too.

P5 headset - My two cents.

I have a pair of studios that have barely been used, why? Because they suck! The battery will drain very quickly. Try B&W P5 or P3 they are the best on the market.

I can definitely vouch for that.
The Bowers & Wilkins P5 is most assuredly one of the best "mobile" headphones designed for daily use.
And by daily use, I mean an over-ear headphone meant for on-the-go purpose and nothing else.

I too, was on the look-out for the best portable head-phones and having had the Dre Beats Solo, Beats MIXR (David Guetta Edition),Beats Pro, SMS Audio's STREET head sets I felt something was lacking.

Don't get me wrong, they are all good but to me they just weren't good enough (most of the times with an exaggerated bass)
I was happy switching between them until I got the iPhone 5 and that is when I decided to find myself a good set which could give me a rich immersive experience.

These headphones (P5) aren't cheap, but I can definitely say that they are well built and they do offer an unique design which is then translated into a rewarding experience.
Simply put, it has a rich and well-balanced sound.

You can google it out and you'd find loads of reviews for it.
One beautiful review of this headset is by Tyll Hertsens and you can read that on here.

And finally I have to say this and I will stress on it; At the end of the day you have to choose what is best for you and not what others say.
This is a subjective opinion, and, like the saying goes 'One man's meat is another man's poison', everyone will have their opinions.

Some will agree with me, while some will not by recommending something else.

The point is that you should walk into a store and try them out. Let your ears be the judge of what you want and seek.
And when you do, you will find yourself the answers to your questions.
Peace.
