Scroll down to 'Which HomePod is right for you?' where they compare the HomePod mini to the HomePod. Both devices say temperature and humidity sensor.
Thank you. I can’t see that on the french store , it might not be up to date !
Or maybe it’s only available in certain regions. I sure hope not ..
Can anyone in another European country check it out ?

S7 should smoke the A8 with ease. S7 is based on A13 (two efficient cores of it) vs A8 which is also dual-core. I mean A13 is still pretty modern SoC.

20nm vs 7nm+ (N7P)

We are talking the Apple A8. What's the connection with Cortex?

Sorry. I was just saying that my Searching just turned up Arm Cortex-A8 Also the Samsung Galaxy A8!

Kinda confusing that Apple chose this naming convention.

After updating my HomePod mini’s I can confirm asking for the temperature in each room worked and it also shows up in the home app as shown in my screenshot.

Did you have to do anything after the update? I updated, but am not seeing it yet. I was shopping for a temperature sensor, so I am excited I can just swap my OG homepod with my mini to get that without buying a new sensor.

I was going to type negative gibberish words about this HomePod™ release in pirate-ese,
but I can type why this aint for me
due
to the simple fact that these do not feature that colour

All I did was update the two mini’s I own in the home app with Beta update still switched on for it to get the RC audioOS

Once it completed I thought I’d give it a try and see if the feature was implemented yet so said hey siri what’s the temperature in my kitchen. It then said sorry this feature is still being setup. Please try again in a few minutes.

I tried again about 5 minutes later and it spoke the room temperature including a decimal point value which was 12.4 degrees Celsius.

After that this is when it showed up in home. Here’s the actual new icon that appears to view the temperatures.

I've been wanting a HomeKit-enabled temperature and humidity sensor which didn't cost ridiculous amounts of money, and now I find out that I already happen to have one in the rooms where I wanted one. Neat!

I just now saw it mentioned on the french  website so hopefully we will get it also. Thank you for the info about how long it takes to work after updating the HomePods

You’re very welcome. This is an unexpected and very welcome feature for me as I didn’t have any temperature or humidity sensors in my flat.

thanks for your explanation.
i thought airplay is wifi based and so i expected that its faster than bluetooth (which has 10ms or so)

low latency is a main requirement in any music making system.

to test airplay latancy simply
open garageband on ipad or iphone (or any other sound making app)
choose an instrument (guitar, drums, keyboard it doesnt matter)
play a few notes over airplay
you will see the problem.

as a conclusion i can use these apps only with the internal speaker of the iphone ipad. thats a big mess.
Yes, u can use adapters and cables, but in practice this cables have to be 3,4,5meters or longer, thats unpractical and annoying.
In the case you have Homepods you cant even plug cables in.

imagine you can play a „stairway to heaven“ guitar with an iphone over airplay to your good sounding speakers in your livingroom ☕️
THIS. THIS is why eliminating headphone jacks is so profoundly stupid. Non-musicians simply don't get it.

As far as I understand it, your two HomePods mini will have the new features when the next iOS 16.3 updates is available next week.

All HomePod mini’s have the sensors in them already but have been disabled up until now. If you see my previous posts you’ll see my screenshots when I updated mine to audioOS 16.3 RC earlier tonight

Is there a difference in sound quality with the new large ones vs old?

The new HomePod has two fewer tweeters and microphones compared to the original model. In my opinion this is to bring the cost down which possibly will mean inferior quality of sound unless they have worked on something to make less is more this section was for the Temperature and Humidity update and discussion might be better in the article announcing the new model being released
